The original Belichick stunt. The extreme cheating. Then more cheating. Then MORE cheating. Now pulling this again on the Colts. I mean for the love of god they announced the damn press conference! They hired assistants that McDaniels had input in. Are you going to do something about this Goodell? Irsay? Is this the type of extremely unethical and sometimes flat out illegal behavior that you're just going to allow one of your own to continue to do. This clown has TAINTED SUPERBOWLS. Sorry but the NFL looks like 2nd rate clowns when this stuff goes on. It reflects poorly on everybody. When is enough enough? Take the franchise from him. He's corrupted things far too much.
Al Davis forever changed the rules on NFL control of franchises. As long as an owner can keep his finances together and not get charged with a crime or some other extremely embarrassing social issue with criminal undertones he is immune to having the franchise revoked. Nobody wants to repeat the long tortuous process that Davis dragged the NFL through when he moved his team against the will of the other owners and the commissioner.
Kraft covered his ass well on this one. He didn't interfere with a contract between McDaniels and the Colts because, per league rules, the Colts and McDaniels were prohibited from making a deal while the Patriots were still playing. I know that rule is honored more in the breach than in the observance, but the NFL has to pretend it's a real rule. McDaniels "changed his mind," and Kraft (good sport that he is) took him back, without any promises of future promotions (wink, wink). It's all bullshit, but it's probably enough to prevent the league from doing anything
What’s the problem? when he sucks as a coach for a second time I’ll be much happier that he is dragging down the Patriots than the Colts. Seems like a win for AFC East fans.
I think they planned this for a while. Belichick's future was never in doubt. He's either retiring in a few days or 2018 will be it. McDaniels had no intention of coaching for Indy. Ever. He agreed to terms of a contract he never intended to sign
He had every intention of coaching in Indy until he came to the Patriot HQs to pack his belongings and was talked out of talking the job. Probably Brady took a shit fit that he was losing his guy.
Irsay did something far more illegal than Kraft did, in fact there is nothing that suggest Kraft did anything illegal at all in this case. McDaniels is a scumbag just like his football daddy.
You mean like the time the Jets went behind the leagues back to try and steal away a coach that was already under contract to the Patriots? Or how about the time the Jets included a poison pill in the contract language of a free agent so that no other team could match it? This practice was of course banned by the league the following year. Who are you tools that actually believe the Jets organization is some kind of above reproach squeaky clean operation?
