The worst was that wheel route call, Smith was running stride for stride, but the call was just BAD at that time. I couldn't believe they didn't target that huge TE more. Especially during OT and in the RZ. I am disappointed cause I wanted to see Mayfield play Clemson, but Clemson also shit the bed. Urgh the team no one wanted to see in the playoffs, freaking Alabama.
I hear ya man. I have no interest in a Georgia v. Bama final. I say this and I love the SEC. But the best part about the bowl games is supposed to be the contrast in styles. The different conferences have some strong differences in their style of play. That's why Okie v. Georgia was interesting. Georgia V. Bama are the same damn team. Hell their coaches are long time associates, they probably run the same damn plays
Clemson has No QB, don't worry about Alabama, Georgia is going to take care of business. I don't mind Alabama, I hate Ohio State and the big 3 Florida teams. I'm glad none of them made it.
I wanted to watch the front 7 for Clemson go up against Mayfield. That would've been entertainment. Now I have to watch 2 of the same teams go at it.
I like this kid especially the way he confuses the defense by looking one way and throwing the other He is a complete winner with his attitude,,,today he played with flu and looked better than Geno with a healthy jaw Georgia got to him with that double a gap pressure up the middle which you see alot of in NFL...my only criticism really Otherwise how do you not like him as a prospect.?..TBH I would rate Allen and Rosen higher..Darnold may not declare ,,
When I watch him, I see Johnny Manziel. He'd blow up in NYC. Take away that OLine and running game, and I don't see a QB who can win games on his own.
I really don't get this. If you go back and watch Manziel, he'd always look to his first read and if it wasn't there he was off to the races. Mayfield actually goes through his progressions and only runs when the play is breaking down. He does scramble a lot but he does so with his eyes downfield looking to throw which was not at all Manziels style. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Watching the game I'm becoming more interested in potentially drafting Mayfield. He proved he can play against good defense. He's definitely firey and emotional, but it's more Phillip Rivers than Manziel in that sense. ie ultra competitive and even a little cocky, but it's team oriented and not individual. I think he'd be well liked among teammates. Accuracy is through the roof and would translate very well to our WCO. Physically I'm still worried about how his size will translate in the NFL, especially behind our Oline. But if he moves well while avoiding unnecessary hits, maybe he can overcome that like Russell Wilson has.
I'd much rather take a shot on a guy with great production and a lot of experience than a project, especially with this coach's QB track record. Size and antics aside, I'd be very excited with Baker Mayfield at #6.
It's also very underrated that he's a 4 year starter, as opposed to Allen who has two seasons under his belt that were somewhat shortened by injury. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
In the words of an NFL scout, to compare Mayfield to Manziel is just plain lazy. He's closer to Drew Brees than Johnny Manziel.
That statement is really absurd. Drew Brees is one of the greatest QB’s ever to play the game. The chances of Baker Mayfield becoming anything close to Drew Brees is slim to nil.
Elway didn’t even have scouts at the game to watch Mayfield, said they will look at him at the senior bowl. I don’t think Denver will have any interest in him vs Allen.
Jet players seem to be on board with Mayfield. ASJ, Adams, Lee ... But I ain't trusting you guys with players, I mean look what happened with Fitz
They're only similar in size. Brees is so great because of his knowledge of playing qb, his offense and his ball placement. Him and Payton are completely on the same page. Brees is impossible to compare to anyone because it is such a unique situation that he is in.
One thing I've noticed about Mayfield is that he does not make tight window. Guys generally have to wide open before he pulls the trigger. I guess it's good that he is consciously or subconsciously self aware of his limitations but the throws that he passes up now are throws that he will have to be make at the next level.
They like his spunk and the fight in him. Looks like an excellent teammate. and people person. If they picked him and put a team around him we'd have an attitude no doubt, lol Teammates and people love Darnold, and Allen too. Rosen not so much
