Would love to hear some thoights on this. This is only relevant if Barkley is still there at #6.

I think we all know who the FA QB is, Kirk Cousins. Though if available a sort of middle of the road option would be Teddy Bridgewater if you wanted a both high upside possible lower floor but also potential injury risk.

Here's the fundamental nut and bolts of this topic.
Are we a better team over the next 5 years with Barkley and Cousins knowing what kind of a cap hit Cousins is going to be, or with a top rookie QB prospect at #6 with the additional freed up cap space?

Cousins and Barkley is the best case scenario IMO. You can rebuild the offense mighty quickly that way, be good now and be good down the road. Use the next two picks on OL and edge rusher unless you can sign Ansah. Then go OL/CB.

If we sign cousins and Barkley is at 6 you run to the podium.
Cousins, Barkley, this wr corps ASJ and enunwa back.
    2nd and 3rds replenish the o line and that’s a good offense

It’s hard to know what the cap hit for Cousins will be. How many QB needy teams are there that don’t want to rebuild with a drafted QB? Denver is the only one I can think of; Arizona maybe. And Denver has the leverage of a high pick, like the Jets, to bluff with in negotiations.

Does Barkley get past the Colts at 3? Seems he’d be a great asset to give to Luck.

This actually sounds like it would be fun to watch so no way it happens.

This is the most ideal situation out there. However i highly doubt Barkley is there when we pick. If I’m cleveland and i grade the QBs all the same I’m taking Barkley at 1 then whatever qb falls to me at 4.

Sure I'd sign up for Cousins and Barkley today. However Barkley isn't dropping out of the Top 5 unless something drastic happens between now and the draft.

    The offensive wet dream:

    Sign Cousins
    Sign Allen Robinson
    Re-sign ASJ
    Draft Barkley in the first
    Draft OL in the second

More likely that any of the QBs is available at 6 than it is Barkley being available.

Case Keenum or Teddy Bridgewater and BPA at 6. Book it.

Jets aren't paying top dollar for Cousins. Book that too.

That is a name that I don't hear brought up to much Ansah. I think he could be a great signing. Pass rusher is a huge priority in allowing this defense take the next step. If you release Mo, which is a given at this point, I would honestly not be opposed to bring Sheldon back on the cheap and hope he is better motivated and then a true #1 CB can make this defense elite.

Well first off, Barkley won't fall to #6. I don't see him getting past the Giants or Niners. He's such a great fit for SF, along with Garoppolo I cant imagine they would pass him by or agree to trade down with us. The only slim hope we would have of getting Barkley would be to convince Cleveland to give up their #1 on the basis they can still their QB at 4, and whatever else they want at 6, plus whatever other picks/players we give them. But I still don't think they give up #1.

But if we could get Barkley, I would be happy to couple him with any number of good QBs, not just Cousins.

I don't follow college football much. Why is Saquon Barkley so highly regarded? Better than Adrian Peterson? I don't really think Jets should spend a high pick on an RB when RB by committee approach has worked for so many teams. Invest in OL and RB thing will work itself out, no?

He’s a game changer. He’s one of those players thAt whenever he touches the rock he could go 75 (or in his case, 92 yards) to the House. He catches out of the backfield. He does kick off and punts. He runs a 4.3. Shall i continue ?:p

The kid is the prototype of the modern day RB. Insane speed and power, can catch passes like a WR and can protect the QB. Plus he’s a great kid and a true leader.

Barkley is a complete back that can run between the tackles and has the wiggle and shiftiness to make people miss in the open field. Has great hands and can block. Plus he's gonna come in around 230 lbs and hasn't fumbled in like 300 carries.

He also doesn't have the wear and tear on his legs too. If you feel Zeke was a top 5 pick, Barkley is surely the same.

Teddy Bridgewater might very well be a Jet this year. I just don't see Mac overpaying for Cousins. Mac made some aggressive moves and contracts in the first year, largely to satisfy Woody win now mandate. I just don't see Mac going contract apeshit in free agency moving forward. I would be against that. At six we either trade down or pick BPA. Be it RB, OLB or offensive line.
Watch Mac draft a QB in the second round, then C, CB and more OL.
I want Mo gone, so if we draft another DE at some point I'm all for it.
Then again, what the hell do ai know about what Mac has in mind.
