He is the real deal... both professionally and personally. http://nypost.com/2017/10/19/last-christmas-eve-this-jet-thought-hed-never-play-again/ And he was the epitome of grace in discussing The Play. Jets have some worries, as do all NFL teams this year... but TE isn't one of them.
Because it's gratifying on a non-football level to see a guy in the depths pull himself out... unlike The TE Who Shall Not Be Mentioned (well, by me anyway).
Because he's a good guy, a fan of the game, and fair-minded, something a number of the knuckleheads who post on this site can't seem to be.
Kudos to you oldrover. Ignore the antisocial dumbfucks who respond negatively. You're a much better poster and contributor to this site than they'll ever be. As far as I'm concerned, you'll always be welcome here. I said last season that Jenkins had a ton of potential and that if he could get his act together, the Jets would have a very special player. In the offseason I read a couple of articles about his turning his life around and all the work he did changing his eating habits, working out, striving to get in much better shape, working on his blocking and becoming a much more well-rounded two-way TE, and I said here numerous times that he was gonna blossom this year and Jets fans would be really glad that we added him. I think he's gonna become a star in the league.
A.H. killed people with no regrets ... ASJ, he should be happy that he found his moment of clarity, I'm happy for him as well.
perhaps you should join him on that Pats board? Believe me when I say no one will miss you. Don't PM me your response either.
Thanks... it's easier for me to understand and not take it personally, since my in-laws are Jets fans. And the Pats sucked for the first 30 years I rooted for them... as a kid, I had to have a favorite team... and a favorite CONTENDING team. Urgh. Pats biggest achievement some years was, "hey, we knocked the Colts out of the playoffs." And some years, not even that.
Who doesn't like an inspiring feel good story like this? All offseason we heard about ASJ turning it around on and off the field and how he was destined to breakout. I was hopeful, but ultimately more skeptical it would all work out. A few games in, and I'm pleasantly surprised by his development. He's been a reliable, legitimate TE and hope he keeps it up and gets even better. At the moment, it look like the Jets finally have a TE. And he just turned only 25 a few weeks ago. (Speaking of Jets TEs, looks like Tomlinson has been a great addition as a blocker and still a promising/developing rookie in Leggett. Not bad)
We have at least one Jets fan who's a (semi) regular on the Pats board. He's pretty funny. And generally well-received.
Nah, post away dude you don't have to answer it, just thought it was Junc that's all ... don't mind me, I am just being a dick on a message board ... but I am going to have more fun at the expense of NCJetsfan
Not for nothing, but I would rather have splinters shoved under my fingernails than go on a Patriots board and start a so and so appreciation thread. It is very nice of you, but it's like I stepped on a piece of gum instead of a piece of dogshit.
I wouldn't say it was nice of me. I just read the article, and I was not as informed about his past as I'm sure you all have been. And to not only overcome the personal stuff, but to now be making a difference on the field, is pretty cool.
