The Jets will make the playoffs this season as a Wild Card team, former RB Curtis Martin said during an appearance on SNY's Timeout With Taylor Rooks podcast. Martin added that he's not surprised with how the 3-2 team Jets have performed. "No, I'm not surprised," he said. "I was banking on them being better than what most people thought." Martin has also been impressed with the Jets' effort. "One of the things that I always pay attention to is the effort, because effort can win over talent," he said. "Like I always say, there were so many guys who were more talented than me at running back on the team every year, but they didn't have the heart, they didn't have the tenacity, they didn't have the whatever that I had, so they never took my position." "I think that teams can form that way and just have that scrappy attitude. That's what I see in the Jets. I'm hoping that they can keep it up." The 44-year-old Martin played for the Jets from 1998 to 2006, making the Pro Bowl three times. The fourth-leading rusher in NFL History, Martin was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012. I see Curtis has moved on to crack lol.
I love Curtis to death. Him and Chrebet were the definition of heart. If he says he's seeing that energy, I can't help but believe this guy sees something we're missing. Even going 6-10 was a vast improvement from where we expected to be.
Not sure about the playoffs but I like the fight in our young players. I expect a few more wins this year if they keep up the good fight.
If we beat New England this week I will become a believer. As it stands right now, we beat some shitty teams IMO and have you looked at the rest of the schedule? That's scary
Love Curtis Martin. He might be looking at this with green-tinted glasses, but the guy deserves a pass since he’s one of two Jets in the Hall.
If you can't tell and see that these young gun Jets are playing with a lot of heart & playing hard? Well then you're extremely clueless and know absolutely nothing about football. Curtis #28 Martin is the man for stating something in which everyone should've already known (just by watching) and yes, if this team sticks together & continues to play hard while developing/improving together? Well then we're looking at a team who's on the verge of contending for and making the playoffs.
He's a Jets fan enjoying the start to the season and seeing all our rivals struggling. Why not be bullish and give some hope. I think we will end up 7-9, but hey why not dream right now! If we beat the Pats he may declare we are going to the super bowl!
You have to envision it to do it. Liked Willie Colon's pep talk to the OL in the Brown's post game show. Hope he did it in person too. Somehow punch them in the mouth at the start, then ultimately pull Brady's left arm clear off in the end. The players and coaches never listened to the media that they were shit, they're not gonna start now.
Curtis we love ya!! Yes sometimes talent gets out hustled...I think he has something there even though he sounds more like My Favorite Martian than C Martin ahaha On paper we are losing Sunday but a few fumbles and 99 yard kick return sometimes will psych out the opponent
