Rip Gene Michael. Amongst other things, held his own in a brawl with Carlton Fisk

Sanchez broke the Yankee single season record for homers by a catcher previously held by Jorge Posada and Yogi Berra. Not too shabby.

Just have to work on his framing and blocking balls now.

On another positive note, Jaime Garcia is pitching like he wants the ball in the playoffs.

We absolutely own the Twinkies. I'd like to see our record vs. them the past 20 years. Had to have beaten them 3-5 times in playoff series over that span.

Looked it up. Beat them in 2003, 2004, 2009 and 2010. Histories on our side in the wild card game especially if Severino is dealing.

He was laboring badly early on. I think it was the right decision to get him out of there and let him live to fight (or pitch) another day rather than burn himself out.

Didi and Sanchez both set the Yankees record for homeruns at their position. They're both such excellent hitters. I just wish Didi would walk a little bit more and he'd be the perfect 2 hitter.

Judge 15 homers after All Star break is now respectable, he's heating up at the right time

Yep. I am not going to let myself get too excited for this Yankees team, but they definitely have a chance. Nice to see Judge getting back on track too. It's unfortunate they lost so many close games and the Red Sox got lucky in so many, because I truly believe the Yankees are better and should have won the AL East. They still can (3 games back with 10 to play), but unlikely. Instead they will have to win a Wild Card game and then likely face a tough Indians or Astros team. Life isn't fair though.

I hate this one game playoff, you can win 95 games but face a team with 84 wins who just happen to have one ace pitcher and now they make it to the playoffs over you based on a lucky game. Plus it takes away from the classic play-in games of the past where you truly saw two evenly matched teams fight for that final spot.

Yep. I hate it. I still say they changed it because the Red Sox finished 5th that one year. Terrible.

They need to win the wild card game given how much better they are than whomever it is that they play.

After that it's all house money for this team. We weren't supposed to eclipse say 80-84 wins this season.

Judge 48, 7 games to tie and break McGwire's MLB record, 18 homers since the All Star break is suddenly respectable

Yep. And looks like the AL Wild Card Game will be Twins at Yankees. New York just swept Minnesota at home last week, and would clearly defeat them in a series, but these 1 game things always worry me.
