How do the Jets draft these bums. Pryor, Milliner, Devin Smith, Kyle Wilson, Amaro, Stephen Hill, DuCasse. These guys cant even stay in the league. When Mangini was involved with picking players, Tannenbaum did well. Since then, we've only picked good players when they have fallen in our laps. What a bunch of bums
Thanks to his one good season with us, he remains one of our better recent draft picks. This franchise...
I think this story is bullshit. I don't believe it. The whole time Pryor was here, I never saw him hit anyone.
Of course you'd want more out of a second round pick than what we got, but to be fair, Vlad's stuck around (fringe starter, mostly backup). Though he's now on his 4th team since Jets let him go end of '13. The Bills just signed him to a 3 yr deal.
Gilchrist made the Houston roster. I was surprised at that. I thought his injury was so bad, he was done. But you're right about the rest of the above trash. No one wanted them. I am surprised that Mangold hasnt hooked up with anyone yet.
ducasse we all knew was bad. he was supposed to be a 6th round pick bad we grabbed him in the 2nd for some dumb reason. wilson and pryor was due to the love of defense from rex. we had cro and revis IIRC when we drafted wilson. not needed at all and he didn't work out. hill was a workout warrior who couldn't plan in an NFL offense. milliner and smith couldn't stay healthy. amaro was just a bust. he was suppsoed to be good in the NFL. i liked the pick perosnally he just didn't pan out.
Which leads to the conclusion many of us have reached for quite some time now: Regardless of who makes the picks, the number of picks,or the overriding philosophy surrounding the picks, this team will not get better until they draft better..period.
Which is why in a perfect world we find a GM who just knows talent above all else. He can see a guy and say he's going to be a good football player. Pair that with a coach who does three things 1. Instills discipline in his team 2. Develops Quarterbacks and 3. Hires good coaches. For once I'm hoping we get this combination.
I wanted Ha HA Clinton-Dix. He was a smart player in college and form tackles. Instead we went with Pryor...because he hits hard but that's about it. Poor angles, poor form. Great.
I keep seeing this repeatedly. If you liked him you were ahead of the game. Not many on here were that high on him. He looked like a high safety in a cover 2/3 type scheme. Disciplined, good size, tackled well..average range. I went back & fourth on him leading up to that draft. I didn't think Rex would like him for his scheme. He liked versatile aggressive safeties that could double as enforcers. Rightly or wrongly HCD was not that kind of player. Let's not forget the very first photo of him after his phone call w the packers war room... To me the right call was never a safety. That was the draft to go offense & more specifically skill..
Rex for years was spoiled with Ed Reed. Single high safeties with range and versatility are perfect in his system to allow a safety net when blitzing, as well as ball hawking when not blitzing. Dix would've been a great fit. That said, I agree taking any safety at that spot was not the best move. Brandon Cooks on this team would've been nice, and was something lots of people were hoping for.
