With their 53 man roster set (kind of), the Jets released their first depth chart and as usual, there are a few spots worth noting, starting with the quarterback position. It looks like Todd Bowles did the right thing and placed Bryce Petty in the no. 2 spot behind starter Josh McCown. Petty was light years better than Christian Hackenberg from start to finish this pre-season, and clearly earned the back up job. I think petty is light years ahead of hack. He looks like the game is slowing down for him. Granted he played against 2's & 3's but he still had to make the throws when they were there A perfect Quarterback rating against anyone is something I hope he can build on. Hack on the other hand looks like a fish out of water. He just doesn't seem to have a grasp of the offense. Petty is the rite way to go, glad to see they went with the better player without considering where they drafted them. They gave Hack the benefit of the doubt but Petty beat him out by a longshot.
Wow! Knock me over with a feather! Bowles doing the right thing at QB? What a novel idea!! I'm not gonna get too excited, however. They may trade or cut Petty tomorrow.
McCown starter is the "rite " thing? The best chance to win, rite? Anyone up for getting another banner in the air? I'll pitch in for "Flush the toilet".
The rite thing would be to offer him up in sacrifice to placate the angry gods. Wait, now that you mention it . . . .
Josh McCown's 38 years old and willingly putting his neck on the line behind a horrible OL. . Say what you want about him but McCown's got balls the size of church bells. Get ready Bryce, it's just a matter of time.
Petty absolutely deserves it, after doing a pretty good job despite the lack of oppurtunity. Too bad McCown was named the starter meh.
If the depth chart is correct and Ijalana is the starting RT, I believe the line should be ok, last year, this line with Clady as the starting LT did a good job giving Sixpatrick time. So I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt since Beachum is technically the only new guy on this line.
If Ijalana's the starting RT, we'd better pray he doesn't get hurt because there will be no one left to backup Beachum.
Valid concern here. I think last year's cast of characters were more about themselves than the team so perhaps we won't see a repeat this year.
Honestly dont get why they don't just make Petty the starter. We are gonna lose either way ...at least with Petty we will be able to tell where he's at and see if he's improved.
Nothing sinks a locker room faster then overpaid veterans...Which is why every single one of them is gone. The only ones I don't agree with is Decker and David Harris. Folk-Gone Pryor-Gone Richardson-Gone Mangold-Gone Revis-Gone Gilchrist-Gone Decker-Gone Marshall-Gone Fitzpatrick-Gone Harris-Gone
