. . . it tolls for thee. Very surprised that no-one posted this "shocker". Not saying the guy is guilty as charged, but the stress and the embarrassment couldn't happen to a more self-righteous, willfully blind, unempathetic, enabling a-hole. Risdale, ugh, I shudder. My guess is that Pell will walk - if he ever leaves the Vatican and shows one hair on his ass in Oz, that is. He's retained top-notch representation, and he'll certainly get due process which he thoroughly deserves, but let's see how fast he winds up "in hospital" and is still "too ill" to travel. He could be totally innocent, sure, I can roll with that; but please allow me my petty haha you POS moment. The grease trap is just too filthy to clean.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/29/world/europe/cardinal-pell-charges-australia.html

Some of the Aussie papers when this first came out, the comments, Holy Smokes. Caustic by and large, and some just flat out funny. Let's just say that he's not particularly revered. "Too sick to fly? Put him on a fully equipped state of the art hospital plane." "GOOD!" "Can't fly, my diddling finger is broken." "I have herpes of the soul, must cancel." lol This is big. Really big. I mean, you don't bring charges if you don't have a leg to stand on.

Gotta love the Aussies for pulling an Aussie and going to Rome to question him last year after him citing he couldn't return to answer charges re: medical reasons. So, we'll come to you, mate (high fiving Australia infinity). Now that he's been granted "leave" to vociferously fight these false accusations, stick Pell on a luxury yacht and ship him out to Australia, Francis. At least try to save face for shielding him. It is so difficult for me to believe that someone who entrusted someone with Vatican City's MONEY (and bottomless coffers) could be THAT naive. There's no extradition treaty, so Pell can essentially milk this forever. Stay tuned.

Also got a bang (no pun intended) out of some big wig's Vatican apt. getting raiding for wild gay sex orgies. Probably descendants of Caravaggio.

    HAHAHAHA.

When I saw those 2 stories I was tempted to put them in Truth's religion thread but worried bumping that thread would bring that bible thumper back.
These stories will continue to come out and never be eliminated as long as they leave the foxes guarding the hen house, Pell being a clear example of that.

He's too busy sticking his fingers in his ears going la-la-la I can't hear anything. It's just Catholic bashing. He never did anything. Here's the Catholic News version of the story, that's all the unbiased proof you need.

151 pages, over 3000 posts and Truth still insisted the pedophile preists were an invention of the media. Granted there were other subjects but that dominated.

Maybe he's just too busy to come back. Has anyone ever seen Truth and Sean Spicer in the same place at the same time?

Well shiver me timbers and blow me down. Pell spotted in Singapore on a reported stopover to Australia. WOW. I'm stunned. He could still wind up faking a heart attack or something before July 26th, though. Takers?

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...refuses-comment-stopover-Singapore-hotel.html

"Limit the damage", c'mon now. Efforts to "limit the damage" is the core part of the problem. The Royal Commission, they don't mess around. They also nailed a bunch of Evangelicals and there was also an explosive Jehovah's Witness case. They pretty much go after everyone. A day late and a dollar short on the indigenous, but at least they're making a show of it, and people do care even though it seems like lip service. Whatever you do, don't read about Tasmania. You won't sleep for the rest of your natural life. Hokkaido is beyond morally bankrupt as well, and has nothing to do with this - well, except for the fact that mankind is a giant ball of shit. Anyway, I won't stray.

Well the old man turned up today and faced the media scrum and the court, both are hearing this trial. Prelim hearing, nothing much happens so it was always good PR for him to front up for this date. He didn't even need to enter a plea, but did anyway. He has good advisers, it will be seen favourably by the general population.Getting on the front foot and showing some agates.

I've got no religion and in my life was able to avoid any kiddie fiddlers so my only interest is in seeing a person face his accusers, state his case and be judged by a dozen of my fellow citizens.

If I was a betting man, which I am only sometimes with horses, I'm going with a 'not guilty', whether he is or isn't. When the whole Catholic Church pedo stuff started coming out 15-20 years ago we had our fair share of accused priests and accusers down here. Pell was often criticised as a senior catholic leader for not doing enough, turning a blind eye or covering up abuse. If that was the subject of this trial he'd be in trouble. But I wonder why allegations of direct abuse by Pell took so long to come out. That raises some doubts, maybe enough doubt to acquit. How's that for jumping to conclusions?

I'm pretty sure he was 100% in lock step with the church and believed everything they fed him. That is the problem I have with many religious, the inability to accept the facts for what they are, not your church of choice's interpretation of the facts or just outright lies.

I thought the thread was hilarious for a while with him continually getting roasted but after a while some people are so oblivious to facts that it isn't fun to bash them anymore.

facts, logic, reason, research, keeping an open mind, they're all unwelcome to religion.

let's not forget his coming back from the depths of pornography hell haa haa, i was like where's the problem? (as long as theres no animals or children of course)

It was probably Bill Donohue, the President of the Catholic League. That guy is absolutely insane. I have never heard anyone so blatantly spin pedophilia and sex crimes against children in the clergy like this guy.

^I was actually looking into getting formally excommunicated years ago on a lark just to see if I could do it, but it's virtually impossible to accomplish.

    Here we go again . . .

    http://www.startribune.com/minnesota-priest-accused-of-abusing-60-boys-in-guam/481834121/

I haven't heard one word on Pell and where it's standing, but he'll die at a ripe old age before this gets settled because it'll get jammed in the courts forever. As I've mentioned before, the Aussies/Royal Commission are also actively pursuing charges against sexual abuse re: Jehovah's Witnesses, which I'm thrilled about. They don't mess around.

    Yet another hot one:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/15/world/europe/vatican-pornography-case-diplomat.html

In other words, mete out your own in-house justice which means a couple of months of therapy and a cushy apartment in Vatican City. The Church didn't want him prosecuted in a foreign country, you know, where he'd actually go to jail. I can't take it anymore. Pope Francis is full of shit. The abuse that goes on in Argentina is rampant, his home country, which he promised to address. He's done nothing.

Ooooo, ooooo, ooooo, I found something!

    https://www.sltrib.com/news/nation-world/2018/05/01/cardinal-pell-to-face-trial-on-criminal-charges-in-sexual-abuse-case-in-australia\

YAY! Going to trial! Pled not guilty (again), what else is he gonna say? You can sure as shit bet that we has complicit in covering things up even if he didn't do anything physically himself, ESPECIALLY over Risdale. I don't know about the laws of Australia, but can they still get him on some type of accessory/aiding/abetting or are the charges just confined to the specific individual accusations? He may not be guilty by definable law for the former, but he knew that systematic abuse was occurring.

I remember the below article from a few years ago, and I'm only posting it for one hilarious passage:

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-05-...s-list-of-priests-guilty-of-sex-abuse/4723660

"The church revealed the names of 29 of those priests on Thursday, including repeat offenders Desmond Gannon and Michael Glennon. However, it says it will not name the remaining 30 priests because several were dead when allegations were made and they did not have a chance to respond."
