See all of that stuff "accomplished coming out of a Ivy League program means nothing to me." I am a Jets fan not a Ryan Fitzpatrick fan. So as far as Ryan Fitzpatrick on the New York Jets and even his NFL career- he is just a backup QB. Like you said its tough for the management- when you have Brandon Marshall(another gem) Eric Decker, and Nick Mangold going to Rangers games with him- supporting your free agent quarterback it puts the front office in a predicament. Coming into the season, Fitz wanted to be the starter- and from all the pressers he held- he thought he would actually have another great season. The Jets weren't supposed to be good in 15- vets including Fitzpatrick played well, with a easy schedule the team lucked out. So if you ask me all Fitzpatrick did was set this franchise back in there quest to find a FQB- and is the most likely the reason the Jets didn't want to do the same thing with Jay Cutler.
He might be pure garbage but even playing at his worst he is much better than any QB we have had play since 2008.
See... I knew it was that dumb ass Bowles fault ! If he had just started Petty and let Fitz come in to save the day we would have went almost to the playoffs !
Yeah, but then we wouldn't have been in position to draft two future HOF safeties..... There's always another side to the coin.
I'm not a Ryan Fitzpatrick fan either, but I respect what he did for this franchise and his career. Not everyone who plays football can be a superstar. Clearly, he wasn't among the elites, but he wasn't among the worst either.
I don’t think so. I think technically he was released and not an expired contract. There was a 2nd year on the deal for cap purposes.
If Winston couldn't put up more than 14 on our lousy defense maybe the Bucs are better off without him.
