That wasn't the case. There's a video clip of it - go watch it. Tebow at that bat didn't realize what he had just done, and stopped at the second, thinking the ball went outside the park after a hop. He only starts rounding the bases again after seeing the signal from the umpire.
I'm hoping Tebow gets a nice run in the majors to cap his athletic career. He was a really nice guy unsuited for the game he played first. Baseball is a good landing spot for him. Maybe he gets to be a World Series hero someday.
