I was listening to the Dave Rothenberg show on 98.7 FM tonight and he had on Rich Cimini. I found it very interesting that Rich thought there was a good chance the organization takes another QB at some point in the NFL Draft which could leave Petty on the outside looking in.

I guess it makes sense. The Jets aren't going to carry 4 QB's every year and Petty came into the league as a 25 year old rookie which makes his upside somewhat limited.

Cimini sounds like he gargles toads in the morning.

I think most people would be fine with that. Nothing wrong with the Jets continuing to take QBs. I personally don't think they will take one in rounds 1 or 2 this year. Davis Webb would be intriguing in round 3.

No point in giving Petty one last shot in his 3rd year....we have McCown

    I hate this team

Petty is dog terrible I have almost zero confidence in him amounting to anything more than a third option in the NFL...His ceiling is that of a capable backup. That being said throw him out there again why not

I thought Petty looked pretty bad in limited action last year considering he was on the bench for almost 2 years while we "groomed" him. Our QBs coach could be the one to blame, but he didn't do much other than throw fly routes to Robby Anderson. That to me did not look good. It seems like nothing has changed from the type of QB he was when we drafted him. Hack might be worse at the moment, but his ceiling is much higher than Petty's.

It's all premature information, but I still have no faith that TB is going to handle a rebuild correctly anyway.

The draft can't come soon enough, I'm done with the jets till the fall after the draft.

Petty should be cut. He does not have what it takes. I was a big advocate of drafting him but he has been an utter disappointment.

He doesn't have the fire. His jolly grin after terrible plays is very telling.

Petty is making less than 1 mil. Makes no sense to cut him. Sure he didnt look great, but for a 3rd stringer making that little who cares.

Petty is all fire man. No clue who you were watching. I think Bryce has ability and would be a very good 2

Is there a TGG competition on who will start the most dumb off season threads?

Regurgitating NY media is the right way to do it.

What a waste of a valuable pick if he's cut. We might as well keep him around and see what he can do.

Getting McCown has no relevance Petty or Hack decision. He is just an insurance.

Yeah, it makes a LOT of sense. FOFLOL Cut the only QB currently on the roster who is ready to start. There's no point in starting McCown. He should be mentor and insurance only. Typical Ciminidiot nonsense.

This guy takes the phrase 'dog terrible' as an extremely silly insult.

I feel like Petty lacks the intelligence to be a Top QB. I like him a lot, but he just can't read defenses very well. The Patriots game was a perfect example. He was so over matched it was embarrassing to watch. Having said all of that, I think it is still too early to give up on him. I also think there is nothing wrong with having a solid #2 QB on your team and Bryce can definitely develop into that. Drafting a QB would make Petty seem like the odd man out, but we heard that last year too. I expect him on the 2017 roster.

As a franchise all we ever have is 'solid #2' quarterbacks.

Except he isnt a third stringer.. i dont know about you but a million dollars a year for a second stringer seems like alot of money. Can we do what houston did and unload him to cleveland with a draft pick so they can take his salary.
