"The Jets have announced that the four-year 49ers wideout has visited. And the reason for the interest in Patton, a fourth-round pick in 2013, is clear; as the team points out in the statement disclosing the visit, offensive coordinator John Morton served as the receivers coach in San Francisco during Patton’s first two NFL seasons. In 2016, Patton had a career high 37 catches and 408 receiving yards." We are going to need to bring in a "YOUNG" vet .. we do have talent at the position but could see the loss of Decker once he clears his physical. Also Enunwa is on the last year of his rookie contract and depending on how much his asking price is, we could be parting ways with him at the end of the 17' season.
I don't know anything about Patton aside from what you just wrote, but if Morton likes him and wants him, that's good enough for me. It would help depth and competition, and be insurance for Decker. I don't think Enunwa will be going anywhere. He doesn't seem like the type to ask for the moon. He was a low-round draft pick. The Jets have given him the opportunity. Further, by the time he is due to become a FA, the Jets will have plenty of cap space.
I agree on your view of Enunwa and like him as a player. If he puts together an equal or better season, number wise, I hope he doesn't test the market and stays home. I'm curious to see if we pick Patton up, just as a gauge of how much juice/input Morton will have in player aquisitions. Patton seems to have some upside and is a special teams contributor.
While he was a Jet Kerley was underused and looked terrible returning K/O and punts Goes to the 49ers and is all world receiver for them...typical former Jet player progression haha looks like we are getting some sloppy seconds with this guy patton
Pags, thanks for the video. He looks fast, like he can get YAC, and to have good hands. It's not your fault of course, but it's sad to have a highlight video with only about 4 plays on it, however. It showed every play he made 2-3 times. Still, wouldn't be a bad signing.
I could certainly be wrong, but it looks like Macc is targeting players/positions that he thinks he might not be able to get in the draft.
That could be, but Mac is on record as saying that he wants to be able to go with the BPAs in the draft and not have to be forced to take a player at a position of need. I think he's just filling needs so that he doesn't feel compelled to have to draft players at those positions. Why would he feel that he isn't going to be able to get a CB in this draft? There are a ton of them, and it may be the best and deepest draft for CBs ever. That should disprove your theory in and of itself.
LOL, it's the only thing I saw that was somewhat recent. Here is another labeled his "Career Day". Hopefully not a minute and a half of the same play from different POV's lol.
Agreed, this draft is DEEP in talent not just at CB but at TE. Adding players in free agency and giving yourself the flexibility to go BPA tips the odds of a successful pick in your favor. It also doesn't hurt having proven players on your roster allowing the draftees time to come into their own. We can even view some of these signees as bridge players as well.
[ 2016 SF 16 games 64 recep 664 yards 9.5 Ave 3 TDs utilized well 2015 NYJ 16 games 16 recep 152 yards 9.5 Ave underutilized his best year with Jets : 2012 16 games 56 recep 827 yards The other years with the Jets he averaged 500-600 yds in receptions Kerley went from 152 yards to 664 yds No its NOT all world in SF , they just used him more than Gailey should have with Jets
yea but you cant just say " all world receiver" ...he never was even close to that and he never will be...hes a 3rd receiver.....we dont miss him...theres literally 40 jeremy kerleys in the league....every tem can have one and then some
We seemed to have added a WR/Special steamer. "Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Quinton Patton appears to have found a new home. Patton visited with the New York Jetsover the weekend, and it sounds like he has signed with the team. Patton has posted good bye messages on Instagram to his former 49ers teammates, and Chris Biderman pointed out that Patton was in a live video on Monday wearing a Jets shirt."
