I don't know what it will take to get him but I hope they give it everything they have to get him. Carr blossomed when he came to the raiders, he adjusts during a game from the original game plan if it is not working. I remember what he did to Buffalo in the second half of their game behind 24-9, he sent the Ryan brother defense into a tailspin. We haven't had a good offensive coordinator since Dan Henning.
I'm on board. However, this guy would be in the crosshairs of the fans by the middle of the season. All Offensive Coordinators are. I thought Chan Gailey was actually pretty good. He was the coordinator for one of the Jets best offensive seasons ever. I dont think he became a lesser football mind. Hell, just glancing over message boards, a lot of Oakland fans are ok with this. Complaining about his conservative attitude, and inability to adjust.
I've seen one or two other names mentioned on this site in connection with Carr's development. I wonder who, other than Carr, really deserves the credit.
So your conclusion is that Musgrave has had one "successful" year as an offensive coordinator in his career is that it was Musgrave that was the reason...not that Carr looks like the real deal at QB?
No to Musgrave. He's being let go by the Raiders. Word is that Carr didn't like his play calling and thought him too conservative. Carr supposedly favors his QB Coach over Musgrave. Bowles might like Musgrave because he's conservative, but I don't think he would help Hack or Petty.
all fans hate the o.c. rarely do they deserve most of the hate they get, except for schotty jr, he earned every bit of the hate he got.
A lot of the coaches Bowles fired were first time coaches that just didn't have the experience needed. Bowles needs another OC like Gailey.....been there, done that. He won't hire (another) one yr or zero yr coach. Bowles wants in game experience.
the guys with experience probably want a job that lasts longer than a year that has a QB that can hit the ocean, doesn't have Drops McMouth at WR, has at least 1 TE on the roster, isn't having a staff forced on them with Diddles McGee counting down the days till he's fired at HC.
Bowles research consists of riding up and down the NJ Turnpike and meeting new coaches at each rest stop Blimpies who drove to their interviews (no plane fare money)
I hear ya, and money only goes so far. Everyone wants to coach with Belicheck in NE, but there are only so many 'good' coaching opportunities. We're a middle of the pack team and always end up with middle of the pack coaches (and GMs). But it seems most teams end up the same way. Every year there there seems to be HOT HOT HOT coaching candidates that every team wishes they had but 2 yrs later they get fired. Good coaches and good QBs are about as hard to get.
