Last year as a team we sacked the QB 45 times. This year we are on pace for only 25.

However is it Bowles? Last year the Bills sacked the QB 54 times and are also on pace for only 25 with Rex.

TBH, TB scheme isn't really about generation of sacks. It's more about lane assignments, containment, and collapsing the pocket to make the QB uneasy throughout the game.

It was the same in Arizona, TB uses the blitz more than most but its to control the LOS and cause confusion for the QB.

So, TB is the problem as far as sacks are concerned but I don't think sacks is his top priority. Which is fine, as long as the other stuff works, when it doesn't, we will see games like we seen yesterday against the Raiders.

I love how we keep blowing first round picks on defensive ends and the only way we can get pressure on the QB is to bring the house. Our defense is completely overrated.

Only we arent making it uncomfortable.... its not just that we arent getting sacks.

We arent getting QB Hits: 30th in the NFL with just 26

We arent getting QB Hurries: 21st in the NFL with just 24

Teams also arent committing their RBs into their blocking scheme against us. meaning 1 more guy to cover for our linebackers who struggle in coverage.

whats most alarming is that not only are we not getting sacks, we arent getting pressures, and we arent getting pressures with teams only using 5 or 6 blockers.

its a problem. its been a problem since week 1. it just is covered up more because we played so many bad struggling qbs. the only 2 good qbs we played absolutely shredded us. Luck is obviously a talent but he is clearly injured and not the his normal self this year.

the pass rush is a real major issue. after QB id say its easily our biggest weakness/problem

We play a 3-4, so typically the linebacker is the one that brings the pressure. We need a Demarcus Ware type of player to rush as our DEs keep getting double teamed.

Pace and Coples are the rush LBs--that explains it. How about some REAL LBs?

My question is that right now, is it worth keeping Mo, Sheldon AND Leonard Williams? Coples is obviously a goner, but what I don't get is that we have all of these all stars and we can't generate a pass rush. Mo or Sheldon should be traded for a good linebacker or something.

    and we cant
there is no excuses for those 3 guys consistently losing their matchups. sure if it was just one of them and they got constantly double teamed thats one thing. but you cant double team all 3 guys. they all need to look in the mirror and step up.

id trade wilkerson for a qb or pass rusher if that was an option.

QB's watch the film. THey know what they get themselves into playing the jets. They are throwing fast and short gains. B/c we don't leave many other options. Plays into our favor usually tbh. Also the amount of 3 and outs... we get offenses off the field so damn fast usually we don't get the chances to accumulate a shit load of sacks. Plus we run a lot so were on offense the majority of the game.

No way, tell me right now you wouldn't trade Leonard Williams for Gurley straight up? At some point we have to realize you can't win in this league consistently with a stout D-Line, and a patchwork offense. We need playmakers on offense (which means we have to draft offense in the first round eventually to get that impact player) and a linebacker, there's more to a defense then DE and DB.

this has been stated so often but is completely and utterly false.

teams dont "throw fast and short" against us. we are in the bottom half of the league (19th) in pass plays allowed over 20 yards. hell yestarday carr was airing it out left and right. cleveland aired it out constantly. bradford was taking a ton of time in the pocket. none of the sites i subscribe to have avg time in the pocket, but we have to be in the bottom half of the leagues. other then luck who we actually got pressure on, and brady who always operates quickly every other qb got to sit back there all day.

the reason we get so many 3 and outs is because our run defense allows so few yards putting teams in 3rd and long more frequently and they also hold teams on 3rd down run plays quite a bit.... not because of qb pressure.

we dont get sacks because none of our pass rushers is winning their matchups and we arent getting close to the QB. its quite alarming. and we should expect more games like the last 2 anytime we run into a decent qb

no chance i make that trade.

running game isnt even remotely our problem. and ivory has been outstanding this season. having gurley wouldnt solve our pass rushing issues, wouldnt solve our qb issues, wouldnt solve our ST issues.

i see the value in trading one of our dlineman for a pass rushing linebacker, a qb... hell maybe even a stud inside linebacker or offensive lineman.

    but runningback?

AFC South Olines must be complete garbage. No wonder Watt puts up numbers like he does.

Muldin and Reiley are becoming our 'speed rushers' on the LB Core. Davis is still young and pretty fast as well. In a straight line, as in blitzing up the middle, Harris is pretty good too.

Once Pace and Coples move along, we'll be fine. One more OLB wouldn't hurt, but our front 7 will be top 5 for years to come.
