I think threads like this, possibly more the number of these threads, are because people are scared. They are scared that the Patriots are going to win another Superbowl and they need their excuses. My team isn't as good as them because they deflate footballs, circumvent the salary cap, play with the opponents head sets, etc. Maybe your team isn't as good because, well, they aren't as good. This will piss people off, but it's true.

George Halas manipulated the Bears rosters size by paying players through his taxi business. Before the "practice squad" many of you older guys may remember the "taxi squad." That's where the term originated. George Halas is in the Hall of Fame, by the way.

Halas was like a father to them, hence the name.....they didn't earn much money and most NFL players had day jobs in the 50's and 60's......I'm pretty caught up on that era since i've been watching the NFL since 1974. There were no elaborate rules about payments then, as over time the NFL ops by laws created these outside clauses which prevented much like what Halas did as the money grew and league grew over time. The salaries today and NFL jobs are full time....no moonlighting. NFL didn't have the millions into billions in TV money either. So comparing that to today really is non sense. Kraft is a billionare and he's more greedy than any owner outside of Jerrah. Trust me the OP is hitting a on a little dirty secret as to why Tom is a 'son' to the Krafty fool.
