http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/03/27/report-miguel-cabrera-close-to-extension-with-tigers/ The latest horrible contract handed out. Teams never learn.
What in gods name? And why would the Tigers pay him 30 million the next two years when he was already under contract?
the smart thing would've been to let him play out the last two years they'd have him through his prime then maybe some other team would give him a moronic contract. But Detroit wanted to be the one to throw money out the window. Should be fun in 4 years when he's over 300 pounds, can only DH, and is hitting .290 or something.
Its quite possibly the worst contract in sports history, even worse than Arod or Pujols because at least the Tigers KNOW that these 10 year deals do not work. The Yankees didnt really know back in 2007 how bad it could get, at least the Tigers had that advantage and they still paid em.
a-roid was opting out, pujols was a free agent here they had him under control for two more years mind-boggling
Jose Reyes already on the DL after one game (actually, one inning - he reinjured his hamstring in the first inning of the season opener).
Gyorko just spiked the ball in shallow right field while attempting to throw. It comically rolled into the infield giving Juan Uribe a triple.
No to the Blue Jays. I think the Athletics or Rangers vs the Cardinals or Nats is the most likely scenario.
Oakland continues to have problems from the O.co dump plumbing and sewage issues, and now tonight they couldn't play due to "unplayable field conditions" Janie McCauley @JanieMcCAP 2m #Mariners-#Athletics game called because of field conditions after tarp was left off overnight during rain. Seattle is leaving.

I find it hilarious how media people are praising Atlanta, and Oakland shiny and nice, not truly buying Milwaukee yet. We've been building for this season for about 2 years now, and there are many, many reasons why the team is playing at the high level it is. If wanted, I'll go into detail, but just wanted to chime in here, get into the swing of an mlb thread no pun intended
What Oakland has done in that crap city and an even crappier stadium is more impressive than Milwaukee.
Yes. I'm from WI, so it's my home team. I can say we. But Milwaukee is an afterthought in baseball. You never see them mentioned on MLB.com even having a 15-5 record. They don't spend the money other teams do, or have the huge market most teams do.
