I'm curious to see how the numbers will turn out for this one. Please note I could only have 10 options, so I omitted some names (including Parcells, who I think is pretty unrealistic). The last two options were included because they are both being interviewed, so accept them as possibilities.
who the hell is leslie frazier? and i'll be god damned if anyone would be satisfied with Brian Schottenheimer as our head coach.
I wonder how many Falcons fans asked the same question about Mike Smith a year ago. Or how many Dolphins fans asked the same question about Tony Sparano a year ago. Frazier started every game at right cornerback for the 1985 Bears. He was injured in Super Bowl 20 and never played again. He also has a Super Bowl ring from the Colts. After that, he moved on to Minnesota. He's the defensive coordinator/assistant head coach. The Vikings are now the 3rd team in which Frazier helped take to the postseason (he was also on the Eagles staff from 99-02). Heck, he was the Bengals DC for two years and they actually went .500 both seasons. **** (This link is not currently working for me. I did my best with the choices; Carroll is omitted because I don't think he leaves USC to return to New York. If I added write in candidate I'd have to take out another name, but considering 2 of our 3 confirmed interviewees are striking out, maybe I shoud've done that.
where is rex ryan? of the guys you listed, cowher, shanahan, and spagnola make the most sense. cowher or shanny could hire the steelers lb coach to be the dc. shanny could fix the jets offense in short order. even BB admits that he gives him game planning trouble.
Ryan's another name I couldn't fit on there. Like I said, I tried. By the way, if you're wondering who's the 1 non-Cowher guy, it's BradytoMoss. Haha.
By the way, to put the lunacy of this board in perspective, only 1 coach--Cowher, obviously--has a majority.
The more I read about Leslie Frazier the better I like him, I would be okay with him as long as he axed Shotts and Sutton. Hopefully he has enough respect around the leauge to bring guys in
whoever the coach is, it should be someone that can work with the current roster. No more 2-3 year rebuilding/restructuring
Man, I didn't even think of them. Egregious oversight by me, I apologize. At the same time, with only 10 slots, I was going to leave out more than a couple candidates, as the board is going in all sorts of directions.
Eagles DC Jim Johnson is in his late 60s and has not been a head coach at any level since 1968 when he coached Missouri Southern.
Rex Ryan has to be on there. A few ESPN guys mentioned him as a possibility as well, so hopefully he's in the mix. Ryan, Shannahan, Frazier, Spagnuolo, and Billick in that order.
I honestly at this point, don't have a clue who should be the next head coach of the Jets. I'm still too numb to think about football.
Cowher, Marty, Frazier, Spagnuolo, and Mariucci would be ok with me. I really hope they find someone soon though.
