I just had one last Tuesday. I was just curious if anyone else has had one when they were adults. Im 20 and from my understanding it takes a little longer to heal if you arent a kid. Anyone have any personal experience with getting their tonsils out around my age or older?

I had my tonsils, adenoids, upper uvula cut off and scraped, and part of the back of my tongue removed when I was 41 as a treatment against sleep Apnea. Dude, the healing hurt like hell. It felt like somebody blew off firecrackers in my mouth.
I ate baby food and ice cream for a week.
The pain was very intense for about 10 days with some of the worst at day 7, 8, and 9. On day 10 I helped a kid with a flat tire get to his wrestling match by changing his tire. I looked for volunteers, but I was the only A hole around. In the process of changing the tire I got my circulation going. My throat hemorrhaged. While changing the kids tire, I started spewing all this blood out of my mouth.
The kid said, "Sir, did you know you are bleeding really bad out of your mouth?" I just looked up and said, "Don't worry about it. It happens all the time."
I got the kid's tire on and he got to his wrestling match on time.
The hemorrhage was the best thing that could have happened. It relieved so much pressure. I felt much better the next day.
Oh, to stop the hemorrhage I just garggled and lied down. It stopped after about 10 minutes.
Good Luck my friend.

I think the hemorrhaging is normal. I had it happen to me after I had my tonsils and aneoids out(I was like, 12 though)

Thanks, Im on day 8 now and it still hurts like hell. Im still mostly on baby food and popsicles, it sucks. Guess I better start looking for someone tire to change, haha.
Its gotten much worse the last few days, in that I have trouble sleeping because when I wake up the pain is so bad.
Good to hear about the light at the end of the tunnel though
