hmmm....wonder why FITM voted for me to be swept? This is no way I should ever get swept with Walter Johnson.

I agree that, on the surface, you don't deserve such a vote cast against you.

Two reasons:
1) Walter Johnson- IMO, the greatest pitcher ever

2) you are at home

I put that "on the surface" qualifier in there because it's possible Cookie Monster trumps your team across the board. Maybe his team is so much better that even with being on the road and facing The Train he'd still win. I don't know. I have not analyzed this game yet. But maybe that is what FITM is thinking.

But again, on the surface, you don't deserve receiving the getting swept vote.

Question...what happens if I get more votes overall to win the series, but he wins the one catagory?

Question...what happens if I get more votes overall to win the series, but he wins the one catagory?

Good question.

Currently:
Cookie to win two games: 7 votes
Cookie to sweep: 1 vote

MParty to win two games: 6 votes
MParty to sweep: 5 votes

MParty has 11 votes to Cookie's 8 votes. However, Cookie to win two games to one is most frequent.

It it ends like that, I think Cookie would be the winner.

In that case, I think mparty should be the winner, since he has the most overall votes to win. Then he would get 2 wins, because more people voted for him to win 2/3 then to sweep. I think that's the best way to do it.

That's the way I think it should be, but I thought it wasn't being handled that way. Maybe I read something wrong somewhere.

BTW...I dont count FITM vote...he is going to vote for me to get swept every round.

I voted for MParty to sweep the series, and not because I don't like Cookie Monster's team (I actually like it quite a bit.) The pitching matchups break down slightly in favor of MParty but the huge difference is that the ballpark hurts Cookie Monster's lineup greatly. He doesn't have that pure pull hitter to get power and in addition his outfield could suffer in the big gaps (Charleston is a great defender but Crawford and Musial, despite being great players, didn't have phenomonal range.)

Does anybody else play MLB 06 The Show?

Playing actual games doesn't really interest me. I bought it for the sole purpose of the Home Run Derby. It's a fun way to kill an hour every once in a while. There are six old stadiums in it- Forbes, the PG, Sportsman's Park, Griffith, Crosley (no outfield terrace, however- pisses me off), and Shibe.

I find it to be very difficult to hit home runs at the Polo Grounds. Now, of course, there were plenty of HRs hit there. I'm just saying I have a tough time with it.

(This will not in any way affect my voting. This is simply a sidenote. I also like some of the fictitious ballparks. Wagonman Stadium is my fave.)

I went with an MParty sweep for the same reasons kinghenry89 voted for a sweep- ballpark and pitching matchups.

This did not play into my vote because I don't think he'd get to use the closer in this series, but I think I'd use Bedrosian as the closer and Marshall as a middle reliever.

If this does end up as an MParty sweep, Marshall (if Cookie doesn't change closers) will theoretically be pretty fresh for Cookie's next series.

I'm not a huge Bedrosian fan, but with Marshall's durability (see 73 and 74 in particular), I agree that's he's much more valuable as a middle reliever.

Whatever team has more votes for it winning the series should win the series no matter what. Then it should come down to sweep or not sweep.

I like Cookie's team more, but MParty has the better matchups. Palmer's good, but you need a guy like Pedro, Grove, or Alexander to match up to Walter Johnson. Hubbell vs Carlton is a push. Gun to my head, I pick Hubbell as the pitcher, but the abundance of lefties in Cookie's lineup and the lack of a bullpen hurt him more. I like Drysdale a lot more than Galvin, and I think that Cookie's lineup would win that one in a rout.

I prefer Carlton over Hubbell.

Not really sure how you can compart Hubbell to Carlton. Carlton has more wins....was a K's pitcher while Hubbel was not, and his ERA was only .24 more playing almost 60 years later.

Until the steroid era of today, the 1930s were the biggest offensive period in history. Very low strikeout totals was also part of the 1930s. During his career, Hubbell was amongst the NL's top five in strikeouts 8 times in his career.

not looking at stats...I would guess Carlton had around the same number.

You are correct, my main point was that Hubbell was a very good k pitcher, something you did not believe or acknowledge in your previous post.

lol...i didnt snap at you like you just did.

A) what I just posted in this thread was a joke used for effect to prove a point

B) You told me to "calm down". You were implying I was out of control in that other thread. That type of comment is damaging because you are putting it out there that "Cakes is a psycho."

Heck, you are "whining" in this thread. Therefore,
you telling me to calm down is odd. I think everyone in this draft/tournament at one point or another had an argument with someone else. I didn't do anything you fellows didn't do. The difference is for whatever reason, I got called a whiner tonight and other things were implied.

I guess this has everything to do with the football tournament and you guys feel you can get me goat by making certain comments. I guess we can say you guys won since I'm bowing out soon. Not just from this tournament, but from TGG overall. I'll still check PMs and read posts for now, but I'll gradually been weened off TGG to the point where by the fall I probably will only look at this site once a week.
