I second your remarks. What a bull shitting hippie ricky williams
Miller, the World Cup overall champion a year ago, will leave the Italian Alps without a medal. He finished his lackluster Olympics by straddling a gate just a few seconds into his run, then skied off the course and raised his arms in mock excitement.
Miller, who has been a local nightlife fixture throughout the games, told The Associated Press he was content with his experience.
"As far as my own personal involvement, I would not change anything. I had an awesome Olympics," Miller told AP sports columnist Jim Litke in an interview. "My preparation certainly could have been different, but I'm not a guy who looks back."
Earlier Friday, Bill Marolt, president and chief executive officer of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, said he would have "a heart-to-heart" talk with Miller at the end of this season regarding his declining performances.
"I don't believe we should have conversations like this in the media," Marolt said. "But clearly it will be something we will address at the year's end, and I don't know where that will go right now."
He sure is an arrogant little shit ain't he.

Yup. Nice post, FTC. I was thinking about posting something similar earlier today. Time to shut up, Bode.

Hey, this guy gives hippies a bad name. A true hippie would never be such an arrogant jackass. A much better example of a hippie skier was Picabo Street.

bode is a stoner, not a hippie. still a waste of god given skiing talent. i'll be happy to know that he has nothing to fall back on after his skiing days are over.

That's an insult to stoners. He's an arrogant prick is all he is. He is certainly no hippie.

I think we're converging on agreement that he's not a hippie - but is he an "arrogant little shit," an "arrogant jackass," or an "arrogant prick"? Enquiring minds want to know!
Actually, I think arrogant dumbass would cover it nicely.

Arrogance scratches me where I itch, but if you don't deliver, it's cloying. I don't mean arrogance the likes of a T.O., mind you; but you do need a healthy dose of "I'm where it's at" to succeed in ANYTHING. It depends how it manifests itself. But I digress. He could have polluted himself any time, but he couldn't be an adult for 10 days? It got to his psyche after his initial poor showing. What a dope. The only thing I kept thinking was there's some Olympic hopeful who had to sit at home, who got cheated out of their chance, that they'd have given their right arm to be there. A shame. Get a life - Dude.

Oh he's definitely a hippie... Check out the story of his childhood (link below). He's not one of the prep school trustfund New Englanders you usually find on the slopes. Not sure about the stoner thing... at least we all agree he's an arrogant loser.

Great example, another being Bill Johnson, who won the gold in 1984. Picabo seems one of the mellowest people in sports, a friendly interview, etc. Bode Miller seems the Alpine equivalent of Ryan Leaf.

Bode comes off as an A-hole but I wouldn't call him stupid. The guy won two silver medals at the last Olympics and turned his 02/03 FIS world cup title into a huge Olympic pay day. I'm sure the deal he got from Nike and all the paid appearance money he got is going to take care of him for a long time.
At the end of the day competitive skiing is among the toughest grinds to stay on top. Bode is clearly over the hill and had he been in the best shape of his life the likelihood of winning even 1 medal would have been slim. He very smartly used NBC and Nike for the biggest payday by an American Skier in the history of the Olympics. His lack of grace in the end came off as incredible arrogant; on the other hand the image he created that the media and Nike promoted helped make him rich.
Part of the problem is NBC and the media in general has put too much of a premium on winning. How happy was Ohno the other day when he won a bronze medal and the interview kept trying to portray him as someone who should be upset that he didn't win the gold. It was nice to see a guy who loves competing and being in the Olympics succeed. Bode looked like he really knew in his heart that he is done and played the rebel for a pay day. The whole thing is pretty pathetic in my mind. The Olympics should be about the experience and doing your best. Young people from all over the world sharing a unique peaceful time together playing games, making friends and doing what they love. This is just another example of how big time TV money has ruined another sports venue by pre-hyping it instead of allowing the games to unfold in front of us.

Excellent analogy, and it also ties in nicely with winston's theory that this was all just cynically planned by him to get a payday, knowing that his career is basically over - you can certainly see the old Ryan Leaf trying to do something like that (given the low-profile job Leaf just took, perhaps he's finally grown up).
And that article only convinces me more that Miller is not a hippie. His parents certainly were/are, but he's just a spoiled brat who was blessed with physical talent.

I think only Dan missed the games, Dave made it.
Can we now put all the bode miller stuff to bed? Enough hype for this guy, let him slink away back to obscurity.

Game face: Arrrrrrrrrggggggh! I have so much respect for this guy. After Salt Lake City and all the celebrity madness, he focused himself and withdrew from the potential pitfalls. He locked himself away in a training facility for the last four years, and ate, drank, slept, and breathed his sport. He respects his body, and being an Olympian, uh, means something. Hungry, Bode? Have a bowl of Scotch. Idiot.

That's incorrect.
If memory serves me right, only 1 of them Didn't make it and the other that did just didn't do well.
