View Full Version : Schedule Conspiracy

I have heard people claiming that the NFL set up the Jets schedule so that Sanchez would face the toughest defenses in the beginning of the year. This way, he would fail and the Jets would turn to Tebow (which is better for the league).
I don't think this is necessarily true, but it is hard to ignore the way the schedule is set up and it would disgust me if true. I guess we can never know, but SportsNation just pointed out that the Jets also don't play at the same time as the Broncos once this year.
You heard that where exactly? Did they also set up Denver's schedule so Manning would have the hardest games in the league over the first 8 weeks so he could fail too? Who is their backup again?

I don't think the NFL tried to base the whole NFL schedule around the Jets getting difficult defenses early. Two of the "difficult" defenses are AFC East teams so they have to play them early/late in the season.
Also, Broncos are a WC team and the Jets EC, there would rarely be cross over time wise. Add in the Broncos are going to have their fair share of primetime games + the Jets 4 primetime games, there are only 7 games where they can cross over. If their bye weeks differ, than 5 games. Its just a coincidence that makes sense once you look at it.

Bad coincidence. Nothing more. If Rex and the CS have any intelligence or credibility they'll wait until week 6 to start evaluating Sanchez.

Nah probably they will put Sanchez against the top defenses early like the 49ers and Steelers. He wont play as well, and then he will get benched so Tebow starts. We will probably see a ton of primetime games later in the season with the thought being that Tebow will be starting by then.
I posted that 4 days ago, and thats exactly how it turned out.

Yeah I read last year in an article about Tebow saying Tebow will succeed because the NFL organization want him to succeed. Take that how you will.

Did you really link an ESPN article to make your point?

Sounds like a load of shit to me. Sanchez should be able to play football in the NFL against whatever team comes up now. It's not like we have to face the '85 Bears the first 5 weeks.

I did say it was a conspiracy. Never claimed it to be true. I'm not a big conspiracy guy. I believe we went to the moon and Obama was born in America. Still, as I said before, you have to recognize that it is odd how our schedule set up perfectly for Tebow to get an opportunity.

Tebow will be in the game playing against the same defenses though ....it's makes no sense and is ridiculous if you actually think about it..setting aside the fact that a lot of teams are not as good as a previous year anyway.
Houston underwent massive change , Steelers are a year older etc .

You open against the Bills. With their new DL and Wayne Hunter/Vlad Ducasse at RT, watch Mario Williams sack Sanchez all the first half. Then watch Ryan put in Timmie in the second half so that the Bills can play contain-the-run and force Timmie to throw like they did last December against the Donkeys to the tune of 4 INTs, including 2 pick sixes.
So, the NFL just set it up so Sanchez gets an opportunity to get sacked repeatedly and Tebow gets an opportunity to get picked repeatedly. Does this mean that the Jets' yet-to-be-named practice squad QB gets promoted to starter week 2?

we aren't playing the '85 Bears, we are playing some Ds that were good last year but nothing spectacular. This will be Buf's first game w/ Mario, Houston lost their best player(Ryans), SF was really good last year but can they do it again? I love the start to our season outside of Pitt's home opener in week 2.

The last time mario faced Hunter he had his way w/ him and the Jets won, look for a similar result. You should be more worried about facing our D and facing a team that has dominated you in recent years.

So, you two think there really is a conspiracy? I'm NOT here to make predictions about what the Bills will or will NOT do in the season. I'm here to debunk stupid Tebot threads ...
The Bills will have a new defense with a new DC and with new personnel. Nobody knows what's going to come of that any more than nobody knows if the platoon QB system that Ryan and Sparano are supposedly installing for the Jets will actually work or not. That said, historically, changing defensive schemes has been a lot more successful than attempting to platoon QBs.

Two different points, actually. You asked "where did you hear this from" and I happened to see an ESPN article that had content relating to the subject so I posted the link to provide a "token ESPN source that talks about what you're asking about but doesn't actually TALK about anything".

Put in Tebow to block. Less expensive QB should get injured first.
