We've had a huge influx of new members joining today after the Hard Knocks debut. It's great to see all the new blood coming in, we have a great community of Jets fans here.

Unfortunately a lot of the new members have been posting a bunch of "fluff" one line posts to try and get their post counts up to view links. Please don't do this as it will do nothing but get you banned - it ruins the quality of the board. Please take some time to read the forum rules before you start posting.

If you want to introduce yourselves in this thread, please feel free.

Welcome to TGG.

Greetings to my fellow Gang Green members. It is nice to see commentary about the Jets for a change. I live in Vermont where everything is Patsies, Patsies, Brady, Patsies, Brady, Sox, etc. I grew up on LI and Newsday was a good paper for sports. Yes, majority was the local teams(jets, giants, islanders, etc), but you also read about what was happening league-wide. Up her in the GREEN Mountain state, it tends to be one-sided. So, I have to gather my sports info from other sources. Quite a few closet Jet fans up here; I usually hear them comment about my hard hat. My usual reply is "where's yours"? Been a Jet fan all my life. I have watched them struggle with themselves more often than not. O'Brian, Todd, the NY Sack Exchange, but I am very happy with Rex Ryan and believe he is the man to turn around the team. He has done a good job and hope they keep him long term. Some of his style reminds me of Parcells. I think they will do well this season. I even converted my wife once we were married; she was a Dallas fan, now she is a big Jets fan and and a Wayne Chrebet admirer.

Welcome to the board. I can't imagine living in Pats country - we had enough of those pricks here in the capital region for a while but they're quickly disappearing as the Pats come back to earth. I imagine you're not so lucky out there.

I'm kind of new member. Been a fan since 1985 and as I learned about the team's history and Namath and they are such huge underdogs it just felt right. They went on to that 10-1 run when everyone around me in school (I live in CA) ridiculed them. That 1986 season was a great run even tho we collapsed at the end. Been a hardcore Jet fan ever since through the bad times and good.

I saw Hard Knocks last night and posted on this board almost 16,000 times... it was that good of a show.

Been a Jets fan for 26 hours and counting!!!! Who's this Namath guy?

In all seriousness, this is the only team I follow year 'round. And this board has made me an even more devoted, and more intelligent fan. I hope the new fans understand that if you seek the more knowledgeable posters on this site, and the factual information they post, you can learn so much like I did.

Actually i lived here all of my life. Ive just always hated the Fins cause of my big bros being diehard fans. I chose to be different. Best Decision EVER!

As far as the collective attitude? Jealousy and Envy. All they do is talk about the Jets. All the sports columns have at least one space dedicated to us. I might get a lot of shit for being a Jets fan, but i wouldnt have it any other way.

What's up new guys

Been posting here since late 2003, grew up with my dad and uncles having season tickets. Section 315 baby!!! 2nd game I ever went to was the O'Brien/Marino shootout and I was hooked ever since. Hard to believe that was nearly 25 years ago. Been through a lot. Was a freshman in college when we won the only game in 96 and I was at Sun Devil Stadium that day. I was saved by the fact that my school was in the Rose Bowl that year (we lost)

Welcome everyone. My first Jet game was at Shea in December 1982. Jets beat Tampa with snow on the ground. Jet fans pelted Tampa DB's with snowballs when they were backed up against the goal line, fans lit fires in the stands, guys were pissing in the sinks in the bathrooms in the dark because people had broken the light bulbs. It was a great time and introduction to Jets games for a 13 year old!

Howdy. I have been a jets fan since 2004. I had season tix 05-08 in 09 my wife had a baby and no longer go to many games, but watch them on TV.

One of my first posts was in a predict the jets season in 08 where I predicted the Titans would be the worst team in football. They went on to win almost all thier games.

Yeah he's alright, but I mainly put WSW on bottom becasue he a) started the thread and b) seems to have a good sens of humor and wouldn't be to upset about being on the bottom c) it ensures no one can really be too upset about thier ranking because they are higher than WSW

That said I probably left a few people out that should have been on the list, but these guys are all Jets fan gods.

Howdy. I have been a jets fan since 2004. I had season tix 05-08 in 09 my wife had a baby and no longer go to many games, but watch them on TV.

I have been on this board moslty lurking for 2 years.

I admittetdly know very little about football, so I suspect many of those posting on this thread (with more than 10k posts) have chosen to ignore me.

One of my first posts was in a predict the jets season in 08 where I predicted the Titans would be the worst team in football. They went on to win almost all thier games.

My favorite "old timers" i.e. posters who seem to respond to everything. In order of how I percieve the quality of your additions to the threads I have mainly read (I included all those that posted in this thread and a few honorable mentions for posters with a ton of posts)

Thanks for the welcome. You brought up a good point though, what exactly is "Pats Country". Is it the neighbor down the road who owns 10 acres and lives in a van down by the river? That's what is so nice about the rest of the teams in the league, you know where they are from. I'm a Long Islander, a New Yorker, and a NY Jets fan. Bring on the season:)

I'm new enough to post up here. Would've joined this board in 06 had it not been for the goofy "no web-based e-mail" registration rule.

31, born in Levittown, grew up in RVC, currently reside in the land of eternal sunshine and gay sharks. Had a Mark Gastineau jersey since I was seven, doesn't fit anymore.

Became a true lunatic green-and-white-blooded fan the day Herm put Pennington in for Vinny. Never got to go up for a game in the Old Meadowlands but I've been to every Jets-Phins game since 02. Spent six years explaining to my Phin-fan bretheren that they didn't need a new QB every year, they needed a fucking O-line. Apparently Parcells agreed...

Was too busy chasing 'tang at UF during the B.P. era to remember much of it, but I did watch the Denver game through a cloud of bong smoke; and I remember very well the offseason that followed. It felt like this one. A lot.

There is something intoxicating about anticipation... Anticipation of greatness, of the chance to finally stake our claim as a team to be feared for years to come. We've been on the doorstep several times throughout my life, but it really feels like Rex and co. finally can kick the fucking thing down.

All of the friends I've made throughtout the years in Jets Nation are hoping our day has arrived. Maybe it has, or maybe this is one more tease....Either way I can't think of a better group of people to go through it with than TGG.

hey tgg, i'm new to tgg, but a long time jets fan. it looks like a good jets board and i'm looking forward to posting here.

I'm also looking forward to the season like every other jets fan. i think the defense will be very good with or without mevis (the name tells you what i think of the whole contract situation) and the offense (and the season) will go as far as sanchize will take them. if mevis plays this year (he would be an utter fool if he didn't and probably become the most hated jet of all time) the jets could have a truly dominant defense.

anyway can't wait to see it start rolling tomorrow night against the giants. the jets stadium is awesome, especially all lit up at night. this is a jets town now. go jets!

I was born in Brooklyn, grew up on Long Island, but I have lived on the west coast for the past 15 years. When I lived in NY, my favorite teams were the Jets, the Islanders and the Yankees, but these days I'm a fan of every NY team, with the Jets still being my favorite. It's funny how when you live in NY you hate the Mets if you're a Yankees fan, You hate the Giants when you're a Jets fan, etc., and vice versa, but in a neutral environment everything changes. I guess I've come to realize that I just love NY and anything and everything that takes me there.

Getting back to Jets business, I'm pissed that Klecko still isn't in the HOF, and I'm pissed that 24 isn't being Revis-onable. Sure he deserves more money, yeah, he needs to cover his ass over the long term, but there is a LOT of middle ground where he can pitch his tent. How can you not deem his intentions as selfish and Jetless? I lost a lot of respect for him.

Nonetheless, I think they'll make a great run this year, and I'll be with 'em all the way wherever they may land. Go Jets!

Hey guys,

Long time Jets fan and lurker of these forums. Never bothered to post in the past since all that would've accomplished was to echo the same-ole-jets/Beningo-esque/negative posts.

Rex changed things.

I feel good about the upcoming season. Not great (e.g. Revis) but not terrible either. I have faith in Rex figuring things out on D, and the O looked pretty good during the playoffs and even better on Monday. We're a few weeks into training camp and I don't have the typical "Oh Lord What Can Possibly Go Wrong This Season" feeling. Strange.

Strange enough for me to consider de-lurking.

In any case, I've been a fan since '85, when my first exposure to the Jets was them scoring like 60 points on the Bucs. I (then kid) assumed the Jets were the greatest team in the league. I was wrong, and have witnessed a lot of terrible things (fake spike, Kotite, Denver, Herm and his friggin field goals, Kotite) over the years, but my fandom never waivered. I guess its hard to shake those feelings/likes/dislikes formed in childhood.

Which is great because 20-something years later I think I finally see the light, I think the payoff is coming soon! We're a playoff team, we're a legitimate threat, we're feared, we're the fuckin' JETS!

Hi everybody.

I'm a relatively new Jets fan as I just moved to NYC about 5 years ago. Grew up in Indiana with the Colts, but left before the Manning and the time when people started to care. Still I casual Colts fan but I prefer the Jets as New York feels more like my home now. I'm really impressed with Sanchez as a leader, and as an Ohio State grad, it takes a lot for me to admit that about a USC guy. (Case in point: Carson Palmer is a douchebag). I also really like Rex Ryan and the enthusiasm he brings to the team.

Had a great time last season and I'm looking forward to a successful 2010-2011.

Hey guys, I'm a 49er fan, don't hate. I live in Iowa, but I'm a fan of all Cali teams, Niners, USC, Dodgers, Lakers (I assure you I'm not a band wagon fan). I hate the Patriots if that counts for anything.

I've been liking the Jets for the last 3 years because I love great defense. And now you've drafted Shonn Greene, and Mark Sanchez, so that just made me like them more. I'm not new to message boards at all, but I run out of things to do on the internet at times, so I decided to join another forum. And here I am now.

I expect to make the playoffs, win the division. I don't see how the Cards would could win, I mean, they have a shot, but losing Warner, Rolle, Dansby and Boldin will hurt so much. 4 guys on Mike and Mike in the morning picked them to go 10-6 or better... One of the Mikes picked 12-4, that is just ridiculous. Hopefully we can be a sleeper in the playoffs this year much like Jets of last year.

Thanks '85'. I forgot what it was like to hate the Giants. I'm curious to know who you were rooting for in superbowl XLII - the Jets most despised conference rival the Patriots or the Jets most despised hometown rival the Giants? I was at a superbowl party that day wearing a Giants "Conference Champions" cap...I was the only person who truly believed the Giants would win that game out of a group of 30 people. Needless to say, I made bank that day. I love NY, and I love to rub NY in peoples faces...even if I have to turn my cheek once in awhile.

Goddamn the Jets seem to have gained an influx of new fans from outside of New York/New Jersey since they've been doing well. Let's see if they stick around.

Ever been to the "Field of Dreams" or have you seen "The Music Man?"I've driven by where Field of Dreams was recorded, but it looks like that all over Iowa. I actually live in the 2nd biggest city in the state, so it's not like I see corn all the time.

And actually, I moved away today! I'm moving to Philly in a few of days, and I'm staying in Indiana right now for a few days.

Looking forward to my first JETS game at home. My son and I are huge Jets fans from Alabama and have seen them play in Atlanta and last year in New Orleans (brutal).
My son bought tickets for the Monday night season opener and gave them to me for Father's day. How did we choose the Jets? When my son was younger (10 or 11 years old) he was always changing and pulling for teams that were winning. I called him out and told him he would appreciate the success if he picked a team and stuck with them. He thought for a moment and asked who my team was. Being from Alabama, college football is overwhelmingly more popular and with no NFL team, I just asked him, what team has the worst record in the NFL? He said the NY Jets just finished the season 1 and 15. I told him I was the biggest Jets fan this side of the Mason Dixon line. We both started following them, watched the drafts, started following free agent pick ups, coaching changes, and before long we knew every player and got as excited on Sundays as we do on Saturdays with Auburn football. We now have a closet full of Jets gear and are ready to break in the new stadium in a couple of weeks. We have come a long way from the 1 and 15 season, let's win the AFC East and get home field for the playoffs.

Ummm. Are you seriously asking?

You want to rip our franchise away and make it a 3,000 mile commute for gameday? Yeah that sounds great. (I hope you can pickup the sarcastic tone)

While we're at it why don't we move the Knicks, Nets, Yankees, and Mets to Alaska? They need some pro teams.

Thanks. Welcome.

I think once the Madden Curse knocks Brees out (which shouldn't happen to such a good, classy QB), you guys will be in contention with the Packers and Vikings as long as Favre is healthy.

I have a lot of close friends who are Cowboys fans, so I actually know quite a bit about the 'boys.

When I heard about Henne getting fucked up last thursday, my first thought was Victor Butler.

Well I think its a good day for my first post here! I only started watching football during the middle of last season, so can't say my knowledge is too great. Have managed to pick up a fair amount though and am now a bit addicted.

Visited New York a year or so ago and flew in over the old and new stadiums, which seemed massive btw. I saw a monster Jets (luckily not Giants) flag on the side of the old one, so decided to become a Jet. Managed to catch a few of the games last season then.

Got to say I'm looking forward to the new season now, so will be watching as much of the Jets as possible from sunny Wales! I got a feeling its going to be a good one!!!

I am glad to finally just join up and join the talk. I enjoy talking about the Jets so, I'll hopefully enjoy it here (don't see why not). Just joined 5 days ago. Got a message that I should start posting soon or I might get deleted. So here I am. Grew up on Long Island, moved to Delaware 20 years ago. Been a Jet fan since 1964. Had season tickets at Shea for years until moving out of state. Go to 2 or 3 games a year now. I used to go to Shea with my uncle in the 60's. He would pick me up and we would drive to Flushing, park behind a bar on Main Street in Flushing called Breslin's. Anybody know if it's still there? Would walk across the bridge to Shea. Had mezzanine seats in the far end zone, my uncle would break open a flask of manattans every time we scored. Great memories. Love reading all the posts. Looking forward to this season. Turned my son into a Jet fan and people are calling it child abuse.

Hey, all! I am a new convert from being a Steeler fan. I am from Waynesburg, PA, which is about as West Virginian as you can get without actually being in West Virginia. Everything around me for 200 miles in any direction is Steelers, Steelers, Steelers! I am f**king sick of it!

I visited NY once when I was on the game show "Chain Reaction", but that is about as close as I have come physically. Nonetheless, I have "seen the light" and am happy to be wearing the green and white (strangely enough, my college colors - I went to Slippery Rock U) instead of the black and gold.

Looking forward to a great season on '10 (if the zebras would quit anally raping them)!!

Hey Everybody. Name is John. Born and raised in Jersey. Spent thirty years there, got tired of the grind and moved to the Southernmost point in the U.S.. Been living here for almost 7 years.

My Dad had season tix to the Jets (Titans) back in the Pologrounds, then at Shea. He had to give them up when they moved to Giants stadium. I was forced into JETS fandom at birth due to him (thanks Dad). Been an absolute die hard, life-long suffering fan since the Richard Todd days.

I got suckered into thinking this finally might be our year, then the Ravens game happened. It felt like the "Same Old Jets" again. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Nice to be here with fellow fans. My wife is a life long Pats fans, so it will be nice to talk to folks who can relate.

My name is Brian. I was introduced to football by a co-worker who watched evry Sunday at work and I didn't have much choice. I fell in love with it after watching one game, of which I said, The winner of this game will be my team. The game was Miami-Jets 86' 54-48.
It's been hell every since. My wife asked me if I would cry if the Jets won the super bowl. I said, yes. She asked me if I would cry when our baby is born. Uggh, maybe.

I cried after our loss to Denver in 98 and Indy last season.. I would be speechless if we won a SB.

What are the thoughts of Ryan Grant going down?

He's a local, I went to the same HS as him, great guy!

Alot of people are picking us to go to the super bowl but I just dont see it yet. We have a brutal schedule right now. We have to play you guys this season whom we cant beat and probably never will beat. The loss of Grant is huge. I think we should get Jacobs or Lynch.

Good Luck this season except when you play the Phinz..

Glad I found this board. This is the best sports board I've ever found. Love that it's loosely moderated and we're treated like NFL-fan/adults here.

I'm 27, my strongest Jets memory is the Dan Marino fake spike game... I loved that Jets team and Boomer, Aaron Glenn, etc.; he broke my heart that day.

Hey everyone, my name is Justin and I live in Northeast Ohio. I'm a longtime Browns fan and Jets fan since the days of Curtis Martin. Recently, I would say the scale has tilted to where I am more of Jets fan then the Browns, although I love them both. Just wanted to introduce myself!

I'm new to the Boards, I started rooting for the Jets a few years ago, My Brother in law is from new york and a huge jets fan, I guess I've been hanging out with him too much and found myself rooting for the jets and decided to change from Eagles Green to Jets Green, The Passion of this team, its fans and Their dedication to winning has won me over!

I look forword to meeting alot of my Fellow Jets Fans, maybe even find a bar in the Philadelphia area that shows jets games!

Honestly, one my first memories must've been when I was about 5 and was at a game with my dad. I remember Al Toon making a catch and the crowd going "Toooooon!!" I had to ask my dad what that sound was for.

Hey guys, long time lurker here. Grew up on LI and now live in Virginia. My parents had season tix at Shea. My first memory of the NYJ is AJ Duey slogging through the mud in the Orange Bowl. I was 3. It's been a rollercoaster ever since.

I have reserved optimism about this season. I really feel that as long as they don't turn the ball over, the sky's the limit. I can get past the INT's but fumbling is my biggest pet peeve. Opening night killed me.

I think we finally have a team that will beat the teams they're supposed to and play well in the big match-ups.

It's a great time to be a Jet fan for sure............Now let go get a goddamn snack.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the Boards - been lurking for a while mostly to help me decide where to buy tickets. I'm a new Jets fan - I grew up in Alabama where we have no NFL, but everyone likes football...moved to NYC twelve years ago and just gravitated to rooting for the Jets because of a few of my co-workers and brother in law. Anyway, I took the plunge and bought 2 PSLs a month ago and have been thoroughly enjoying myself!

Whats up people? Im new year, my name's Rich and I'm from Queens. Pretty much a brand new football fan, only really started wathing this preseason. Grew up in a Giants family, but I always found their style of play boring so I decided to veer away from that. Ive watched every second of the games so far and im hooked, Jets fan for life

I'm new here. Im 28 years old and actually became a hardcore jets fan since this past off-season. I've always been a giants/jets fan but for some reason only been to jets games my whole life. Well I decided to switch teams before the season started and been catching hell from all my friends. Lol oh well. I've been in the Army for 6 years now and going to do the full 20. I also love the Mets since birth..sad I know. But I'm sure many people here can feel my pain on that one. Well I live in long island and am in the New York National Guard now after doing 4 years Active Duty in Fort Riley Kansas, home of the 1st Infantry Division.

I applaud your honesty but becoming a diehard fan after we go to the AFC championship game along with the number 1 defense and rushing attack is the opposite of a diehard fan.

Were you a Giants diehard in 07 or actually after 07?

Anyway, welcome aboard!!

It's cool. I've been a Giants and Jets fan my whole life. I've always taped or watched both teams every year. I've never really picked a team to completely go all out for until this year. And the a big reason why the Jets is because I believe Rex Ryan will one day be a hall of fame coach and I love his coaching style. For some reason its never been like this with baseball, IE I love the Mets and I cannot stand the yankees whatsoever. Maybe I overexaggerated in being someone who has been diehard since the 60s or something but I dunno. In 07 I was the same as I always was. I just decided to pick a team to really root for instead of rooting for 2 teams this year. Anyways, thanks!

Hi all!
My name's Dion and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm new to NFL, but absolutely LOVE the Jets and can't wait to see them continue to do well this season.

I've been on here for a few months, picking everyone's brains on this brilliant game you guys have over there! My dream is to one day see a game at New Meadowlands and hear that kickass, 'J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS' chant for myself =)

I look forward to a life of supporting this fantastic team and will actually understand what the hell's going on thanks to you guys on this forum :)

Hai!

I'm a lurker, Been one for a while now. Years of practice ignoring stickies made me not notice this thread, but now I'm fixin that goof!

I'm 32, but I've only been a Jets fan since I moved back to NY in 2000. I was born and raised in a NY Giants family, but never got into pro football as a kid. That changed after I spent a couple of years in Tampa, Florida which at the time only had football (and preseason baseball) - so EVERYONE was a bucs fan on sundays, no matter how bad they were - I got a good lesson down there in what being an underdog fan is like.

Once I moved back to NY, and reconnected with old friends who are die-hard Jets fans, their passion for the team eventually brought me on board and I've been trying to learn everything I can about my chosen team ever since. I love reading the threads here, they help keep me sane pre-season, post-season and before and after game day :)

Hey everyone, my name is Chris and I am a die hard Jets fan originally from Farmingdale and currently living in the Dallas,Tx area. I watch each weeks game at a local bar that is dominated by Bills fans but our Jets watching party is growing! Never seen the Jets play at home, only here in 1999 when Ray Lucas led a late drive downfield for Jon Hall to kick the winner and break Cowboys hearts

You weren't banned because he "accused you of something." You were banned because you called a very respected poster (maynardsmyhero) a retard and told him to go back to England after YOU flew off the handle over the John Conner pick and he told you you were wrong. Now you're going to come in here and claim that he's not a real Jets fan? Based on the way you came off looking with your little tirade about the Conner pick, I'd suggest you work on your own problems before you start telling other people they're not 'real' fans.

I didn't remember anything. There's a function to see all of your posts, which I naturally took advantage of to see which of our fine English fans you had trouble with. When I saw it, it was clear that the bitching in your post was unmerited and disingenuous. You don't need to prove you're a Jet fan; you also don't need to criticize someone's fanhood when he's respected here and has demonstrated infinitely greater knowledge of the team in your limited interactions.

I'm a Jet from England, UK and I've been a fan since 1985.

First game I attended was Jets vs Colts in 1988 and the best game I've been to was the Monday Night Miracle against the Fish in 2000 - what a 4th qtr come back (and after travelling 3,000 miles I was one of the few still there at the end!).

I'm hoping to meet a few of you guys on my next trip to the USA - so if you are in Dallas on February 6th I'll be there...Super Bowl baby! :jets:

Hello everyone. Jets fans from South Dakota. Glad to be part of the forums. It appears I can't start a thread yet, so maybe a veteran could tell me where to find some Jets artwork. I'd like to get my wife some kind of numbered painting/print that doesn't depict a specific player... does anyone know where I'd be able to find something like this to frame and hang in our sports room?

Thanks,
