From Randy on the Jets twit posts.

I'm kinda against it. I love Rex and offered myself as an adopted son but He's always chanting "go Yanks"

Sorry - get off the mound and don't disrespect my team. Love you Rexy! (no homo)

Rex likes the Yankees, and has attended a bunch of Yankees games. They should let him throw out the first pitch there some day.

Screw the Mets/Jets connection. I hate it when the Jets are always associated with that shitty team.

Yeah, yeah. Don't give me that whole "Mets are the working class team" bullshit. It's not even remotely true.

You sound like most Giants fans, when they talk about the Jets. Why hate?

And, no, I don't give a s*** about baseball.

When I wear Jet stuff and someone with Yankee stuff walks by me, they snicker at me because they presume I am a Met fan. I am a Jet/Yank fan. Rex is not a Yankee fan, he said so when talking to Kay in the booth. The man is a NY fan, he ain't stupid. Just glad to see he's the king of NY and Coughlin is no where to be found. Listening to the Giant coach after a Rex presser makes Tommy boy sound like AL Grogh.

It is entirely true. The Yankees (and Giants) were the established New York team way back when. As a result, their tickets were more expensive, and only white-collar folks could afford them. That's when the blue-collar workers started snapping up Mets (and Jets) tickets. In turn, their kids-- our generation, for the most part-- also became Mets/Jets fans... while there are plenty of stories that break this mould, generally, blue-collar parents still have kids who end up blue-collar as well.

The Mets, in particular, are still marketing to this fan base. Hence their David-Wright led "Citi Field was built by union contractors" campaign that was all over SNY last year. Like it or not, Mets are generally a blue-collar team. Just like the Jets.

The Mets are a blue collar team beacuse your multi million dollar 3rd baseman did a commercial for a union? The Yankees have people other then white people from the suburbs at their games. Did you ever see a hispanic or African American at a met game?

i was actually quite impressed with rex when he did an in game interview with the guys from sny. first time i have heard him where he didnt go out of his way to say something controversial.

he did go off topic a bit a couple times and did say that they plan on having a parade but he was much more tolerable than he has been in the past..

You knew it was going to be a bad game because Maine was pitching that game. And anyway, good job Rex.

I was at the game last night. Rex didn't look much thinner to me. I was expecting to be shocked by how skinny he was ... didn't happen.
That surgery is supposed to produce much better results than that.
WTF is he doing?

All the surgery does is reducing the amount of food you eat (or you absorb, one of the two).

If you still don't do a shit of excercise the weight won't go down.

The SNY announcer, Kevin what's his name tried to get Rex to compare the jets to the mets but Rex did not bite. Can you imagine, we made the Championship game last year and are loaded with talent, and this idiot wants to compare us to a team that sucked last year and tis year is a .500 team with some talent. Rex was kind enough to say we are a little Yanks and a little Met. I wanted to punch the announcer

The Mets are a blue collar team beacuse your multi million dollar 3rd baseman did a commercial for a union?

Yes. I don't know why it's relevant that our 3rd baseman is a multi-millionaire (especially when we consider your 3rd baseman's salary). The point is, the Mets market to that demographic because there IS a market there. The Yankees don't.

The Jets/Mets connection is simply a historic one which started from the days that they both played at Shea, and were both the upstarts trying to gain market share from the established teams. It's nothing to get upset about... these days, being a Jets/Yankees fan is far more acceptable, and as evidenced by the "Jets/Mets or Jets/Yankees" polls whenever they're posted on these pages, it's becoming a more popular duo of teams to support.

But I think the blue-collar connection is very much still there. We can all agree that the Giants are the more white-collar football team, right? Well, while our "JM or JY" polls are always near 50-50, go to any Giants website and post the same poll. You'll get 80-20 Yankees to Mets.

Are you fucking serious with that? I work at Citifield and can tell you there is a Massive hispanic and african american mets following.

The poke at his own weight was great.
