'Most Competitive' TV Night in History Arrives Today. What Will you Watch?

NBC's night of women's skating - always the highest-rated segment during the Winter Olympics - will have to compete with Fox's American Idol, ABC's Dancing With the Stars and CBS's Survivor in an unprecedented night of Olympics versus reality TV, writes The New York Times.

"This without a doubt," said NBC Universal Sports and Olympics chairman Dick Ebersol, "is shaping up as the most competitive night in the history of American television."

For the majority of Ebersol's career with the Olympics since the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics, NBC has been first in prime time and has rarely faced first-run episodes from competing networks during the Olympics. NBC is now the fourth network and facing more competition.

Some perspective now from David Poltrack, the president of CBS Vision, the research division of CBS. He said the Thursday night clash would not set a record for four-network viewing. But a precedent may be set.

"It's four very strong franchises going against each other," he said. "That'll make it unique."

He said there were many cases when two top-20 shows went head-to-head, but not four. "You might have gotten a 'Survivor' against a 'Friends' against a World Series game," he said. "But that's three."

Idol is all cuts tonight you can go on line and find out 2 minutes after the show is over.

You can DVR Stars and watch survivor. Than you can watch stars after NBC finishes finding out how dissapointed the silver medalist was for failing to win the gold.

I played Dragon Warrior VIII for 2 hours instead of watching any of that.
Plus the Sopranos epsidoe where Tony kills Ralphie was on and I would watch that again over that programming any day.

Great old school style RPG. Probably the best to be released in the past few years. I guess from the poll results here TGG.com isn't in the target demo for these shows.

I'm eagerly awaiting someone taking the Murrell-like plunge and voting for Dancing with the Stars.
