Got an email from Buy.com, the Fantom 250GB 7200RPM USB 2.0 External Hard Drive after $25 rebate is $97.95. I've been reading these message boards for awhile and it seems that a lot of you are quite knowledgeable in the computer area - What do you think, good deal or piece of junk??? If junk, what do recommend using to backup music, pictures, or video?

Why would you want an external anyway? but 250 at 97 bucks for an external is excellent.

I figured with three computers in the house, I could back up all three with one drive...

250gb should be as much as you need to back up 3 computers. Especially if you're backing up compressed system images and not the entire content of each machine uncompressed. Keep in mind after formatting, you're really working with around 240gb or so. Never heard of the brand either but hey, the price sounds pretty good. Just be advised that more times than not, you get what you pay for.
