Terrell Owens To Sign With Cowboys
( Air Date: 3/16/2006 )

Sources within the Dallas Cowboys have told the KLBK-13 Sports Department that the Cowboys have signed wide receiver Terrell Owens.

Terms of his contract have not been disclosed.

The Cowboys plan to announce the signing of Owens officially in a press conference on Monday.

Owens was ran out of Philadelphia after bad-mouthing the Eagles organization and quarterback Donovan McNabb last season. Owens is also remembered for taunting the Dallas Cowboys and its fans on the "Texas Stadium Star" while he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers a few years ago.

Owens enters his 11th season in the NFL, and will play on his third
team in four years.

Wow. I don't think they came a whole lot better though, he'll cause problems.

I can't wait to see his reception in Philly.

He probably wanted the chance to play the Eagles twice a year, which he'll get in Dallas.

It will be interesting to see how Tuna handles him, if this is true.

Actually he's not, it was a close friend of his who said he did, but Owens is denying reports now according to the espn bottomline as of 10:45pm est.

He'll end up there anyway, bogus or not.

I think He's learned his lesson and while he'll still be a showboat, his team turmoil days are over!

Ok so who's going to be the 1st to throw the Lepoard's/Spots analogy??

This is total sh!t! I can't believe the hypocrisy that orginization is showing. I remember when T.O. was feuding with the boys running to the star and acting like a fool . If I was jerry jones I would definitely pack a cyanide pill in my lapel pocket for when all this goes awry.

Please, if the guy couldn't take McNabb as his QB, Bledsoe has no shot.

How long do you think Parcells will put up with TO's BS? It might last ONE season tops. Especially if the Boyz don't make a splash this year..

Please, please, please let the Eagles destroy the Cowboys in Philadelphia this season so bad that McNabb comes out of the game and Garcia plays the 4th quarter. Oh, how Owens would love it.

How would that help them? Hasn't he been retired for two years, and is probably closing in on 40?

To me it sounds like desperation, but it's hard to be objective when you're a Skins fan. I look at it this way... if WE had signed him, the league would laugh itself silly ranting about Snyder X 10. PFT metioned Parcells not showing up at the press conference as a bad sign, but Cowgirl insiders claim that it's just his style. You guys would know that better than I.

I'm wildly curious to see how Parcells handles any flare ups. I just can't imagine even Terrel getting in Bill's craw. Either way, that's must-see TV!

I dunno... the release of Meshawn seemed kinda tactless as a prelude to the announcement. I've heard rumors that this was all arranged behind the scenes before TO's release from Philly, but the Beagles can't file tampering charges because they in turn tampered with LeCharles in Charge.

If the ladies only knew what a soap opera the NFL truly was...

This is for the two geniuses that think the Cowboys are Super Bowl bound:

TUNA'S T.O. SILENCE IS DEAFENING

With each passing hour, the failure of Cowboys coach Bill Parcells to say something/anything about the team's acquisition of receiver Terrell Owens will be interpreted by league insiders -- and most importantly the other players on his team -- as the absence of an endorsement of the decision of owner/G.M. Jerry Jones to throw a lasso around a maverick with a belly full of loco weed.

As one league source who watched the video of the press conference told us, "If Parcells was onboard he either would have been there or at least had a prepared statement. When Owens was asked what Parcells had said to him he basically admitted he really hadn't talked to him. Now don't you think that if Parcells really wanted him he would have at least had a conversation or two with him?"

And in response to the various Cowboys fans who reminded us that Parcells hasn't attended any of the press conferences introducing new players in his three seasons with the team, this one is a little bit different, don't ya think?

At a bare minimum, there should have been something from Parcells to indicate his imprimatur of this specific personnel move.

As we explained last night, there are players who are not inclined to welcome Owens onto the team, and they are interpreting the Tuna's silence as a license to dislike the entire situation.

end of story

Parcells isn't going to be coaching the Cowboys next year, and it will happen after they miss the playoffs in 2006.

This move boggles the mind...Unless TO has had a soul transplant, I cannot imagine how this can last. What happens when Parcells starts ranting at TO in practice? What happens when Bledsoe throws a few errant passes in a critical game? Dallas must be more desperate to win than I thought. This could be fun to watch.

A. Owens doesnt guarentee a Super Bowl, especially on a team with shit at QB
B. How the hell would Dallas getting to the Super Bowl mean the Jets can't get there? They play in different conferences.

TO is an impact player who makes Dallas a better team than they were. To made Philadelphia better when he was there. LT made the Giants better, Corey Dillion made the Pats better, Duane Thomas made the Cowboys better and Jim Brown made the Browns better. All of them were trouble makers who when put in the right circumstances made their teams better.

Evidently.

You know, Duane Thomas was actually traded to the Patriots before the start of the 1971 season. He refused to report to New England and the trade was rescinded. Several months later he led the Cowboys in rushing in their Super Bowl 6 victory.

Duane Thomas was every bit the "Cancer" that TO is and the Cowboys wouldn't have sniffed that SB without him.

I was born in '77 so he was right before my time, but I've seen the NFL Films and I've read the stories, and I've seen the transcript from the "evidently" interview with Tom Brookeshier. This guy is not worth a biography, but I would love to see a good, four-plus page story on him the next time SI does their "Where are they now?" issue.
