View Full Version : Burglars

So I walked out of my house yesterday and there are three sheriffs at my neighbor’s house. I was standing there and one of them came over and informed me that his house had been burglarized sometime between Thursday and yesterday…just asked if I had seen anything (which unfortunately I hadn’t).
Anyhow – I saw his girlfriend standing in the driveway so I asked if everything was okay and if he needed any help securing the place – and she told me he wasn’t even there; I guess he had a death in the family and had to leave town quick and she had gone over to retrieve some paperwork for him and discovered the break in.
So I went in to try to fix the back door for her (they pried open the slider) and man…I felt like shit just seeing what these scum bags did. It was like an episode of it takes a thief…these bastards tossed the whole house. They stole all of the electronics (Plasma TV’s, stereo, computers, ETC.) and some guns.
I don’t know what kind of piece of human shit does this but its just awful…worst off – it has to be someone who knows him because we are no where near a high crime area…and I get the feeling someone knew he wasn’t around. It’s bad enough if you’re scummy enough to do something like this…the fact that it’s likely someone he shakes hands with just makes me nauseous.
I guess it’s like they say…no honor amongst criminals…

You know what hit me about this? (Other than the obvious) He had a death in the family. Sounds like what has been going on around here. These scums read the obits to get information. Then rob the house while the owners are attending the services. I'm thinking they knew your neighbor was away at the time.

I don’t know – it was an out of state death – I think she said he had to go to Chicago. What a friggin’ shitty call to get when you’re trying to deal with that…and then to have to come home to it.
The other thing is – all of our houses had the alarms installed by the builder but I don’t think most of us are monitored…but whenever you open a door or window in my house (and his) it chirps (as if the alarm is armed). I would think that if you weren’t SURE it wasn’t monitored…that would scare you away.

Ah, so you think they are real familar (sp?) with the setup? Rotten bastards. I hate a thief.

When it’s a big job, it’s usually planed out, the robbers will watch the house for a wile see what time people come and go. The best defense for stopping some one breaking into a sliding glass door is a 2X4 that runs the length of the door to the wall. Getting robbed is the ultimate violation of privacy.

It’s the worst wondering who fucked you…once my car got stolen and I know it was someone that knows me (or at least a tip from someone who knows me). It pissed me off…me and my friends had a pretty good idea of who the scum bag was – but you never really know for sure.
I've had "friends" steal things from me in the past. And it hurt and pissed me off. But the thought of a total stranger ransacking my home, sorting thru my things, makes a person feel so violated.

thats why I'm old school. I've always been a big fan of moats, croc pits, and trebuchet's. security systems just dont get it done sometimes.
but seriously that sucks. thieves are the lowest. i think the only thing i disrespect more than thieves are rapists.

Had to be an inside job....or somebody really studying the house....shame really i cant stand thieves. However living down here in FL for some years i've notice pple here are trusting (lack of a better word), i personally know pple who leave their doors unlocked, car door unlocked with stuff in plain view, convertible tops down, list goes on. Not saying your friends did that....but there just certain this you dont do.
