If they Jets can get the number two pick and get Peterson they should let Vilma go.

I agree, but there is no need to throw Coles in the deal.

As much as we all love Vilma, and how great he's been as a Jet, on and off the field, the fact is that he struggles in the new defense. I hate to say it, but they won't have a tough time replacing Vilma if they did send him to Detroit.

Detroit wouldn't be a bad place for Pennington.

For the number 2 they can have Pennington and Coles!

how far up can we go up for #25 and #37 ? The Skins pick was a gift, and maybe we can use it to target a player.

Based on the Jets backseat approach to FA, it seems as if they will look to fill all needs (NT/OG/RT/CB/RB/OLB/FB) through the draft. Therefore, the organization is in no position to trade multiple picks to move up.

Look...I'd rather keep Vilma on this team, without a doubt. I defended him and feel only 1 season is not fair to judge someone on a brand new system...

But if a player like Calvin Johnson is made available for 25/Vilma, honestly, you have to seriously consider that, he's a freak and will be one helluva receiver in this league with those intangibles he has.
So how come others had quite good season un the 3-4 & JV with 17 weeks of games & coaching was the same in game 1 as he was in game 16?

Champ would finally be in a place where someone's IQ is lower than his with Matt Millen there :)

The 25 and the 37 buy you the 12 in the standard NFL draft pick value chart.

Throw in the 57 and you climb almost to the 6 pick. Brady Quinn is very likely to be there on the 6 pick.

I can't see how we'd part with that much talent simply to draft Brady Quinn...
what would Tannenbaum say to Kellen Clemens?
"sorry, we thought you were starter quality 2 years ago, but not anymore", then trade him for some low round draft pick?

Trade up only for skill position players, something this team needs in order to surpass the New England Gaytriots

No one is "happy" to trade him. It's much easier to find a good ILB for the 3-4 than it is to find a RB the caliber of Peterson. It's a trade that definitely has to be considered.

Wait a minute!!!

What happened to all the people saying RB's were "a dime a Dozen"??

Maybe not you 10penny but it shows how FOS some posters are.

They're even willing to sell out on Vilma for an Unproven Pick. That IS Ridiculous!!

Vilma will THRIVE in this defense if we get a legit NT.

Agreed, and that's one reason I'd be really iffy about this trade. Vilma's a great player and get the right personnel around him and I think he'll flourish in the system.

I will point out, however, that all the people saying that CJ wouldn't be a good deep threat for us is being retarded. Chad's arm strength limits him on medium-to-short balls, which become lofted rather than frozen ropes (see Leon and Coles getting destroyed in the Christmas Miami game last year). His loft is an excellent deep ball, however. Having a burner who can go up for that ball and bring it down would completely open up our offense. I'd only do this deal for Johnson, or else we're most likely reaching. I'm not as big a fan of Quinn as others here are and I think that Peterson's knee is a time bomb ready to go off.

I'd also like the idea of getting Rodgers back as NT and if you switch Coles with Vilma. I know this sounds like a Madden trade, but I'd do Coles/#25/#37 for Johnson/Rodgers if I could. However, I highly doubt that Detroit would want Coles considering the state of their WR corps. I honestly just really, really don't like the idea of giving up Vilma. I need to give this deal more thought. However, CJ would add a whole new dimension to our offense, someone who can go up for that deep ball and doesn't need many yards after the catch to make it a huge play.
