Hey fellas,

Sorry for the long hiatus, but we're going to kick this off fairly shortly. We were hoping for a cool bracket program from Tony, but he got busy, so we're moving on without it. I'm working on getting a designated forum set up for this event since there will be a lot of polls. I'm looking to start this Wednesday the earliest, or Monday the latest. So there is your time frame. I will post the rules again right after this post. There have been some slight changes, so familiarize yourselves with them. You'll see the brackets as well. Feel free to ask questions if you're confused about something.

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. TGG Rules are paramount and supersede any Tournament rules or business. Any violation may lead to both disqualification from the Tournament AND suspension from the board.

2. All Tournament rules will be enforced by the Tournament Commissioner who, in his absolute discretion may determine if a rule has been breached and the penalty imposed. SundayJack, MisterMoss, and Tony will act in this role.

3. The nature of this contest is to decide the best contributor to the BS Forum through a series of head-to-head polls in a tournament format.

4. All competitors will be seeded by a series of criteria factored in by the commissioners, which ultimately determine the level of contribution the poster has made to the BS forum. Voters will vote for the poster in each match whom they think is the better contributor to the BS Forum. The competitor with the most votes at the end of voting will proceed to the next round. If, at the end of a voting round, the tally reveals a tie, the winner will be determined as follows:
-In the first two turns of voting (first round, and second round), the winner will be the higher seed.
-In the following three rounds (third round, 4th Round, and Quarterfinals), voting will be extended for one additional day. A match may have up to two (2) sudden death rounds, after which the winner will be determined by coin flip of the Commissioner.
-In the final two rounds (Final Four and Championship), a tie will be broken by extending the voting period by an additional day. After each 24-hour period, if the voting remains tied, it will extend for another day. If the timing becomes grossly unreasonable, the commissioners will gather to decide what step to take next.

Each match will remain open for five days. The schedule will be posted in the designated forum.

5. No active campaigning will be allowed. Competitors may actively engage in competitive posting in acting threads, but may not make their match the subject of the thread, and may not solicit votes. In other words, posters can debate their opponent for the week in open threads, but can't actually TALK about their match, and can't start campaign threads. Remember, this is an award, not an election. Any competitor actively campaigning will be deducted four (4) votes from his tally. A second offense in the tournament will result in a deduction of eight (8) votes. On the third offense, the competitor will be disqualified.

Campaigning through PMs is ILLEGAL and will result in automatic disqualification!! There will be one thread established in a designated forum exclusively for trashtalk and gamesmanship between tournament competitors. If upon investigation, admission, or credible reporting, a poster is found guilty of soliciting votes via PM, the commissioners reserve the right to disqualify him or her without prior warning.

I know this can be difficult to enforce. For one, we ask that if anyone contacts you via PM campaigning, please report it to us. Again, this is not an election. The ultimate winner needs to be a deserving one. There is also another method to sniff out suspicious activity that I will not mention. Your fellow posters will humiliatingly embarrass you if you are caught. All in all, keep within the spirit what this is about.

6. Competitors may engage in signature and avatar betting, but may not use signatures and avatars to solicit votes. They may create slogans or Tournament banners, as long as, in the determination of the Commissioners, the signature or avatar is not actively soliciting votes for the match.

7. Anyone who, in the opinion of the Commissioner, brings Tournament business into the Jets Forum may be automatically disqualified.

8. The decision of the Commission is final. Appeals and protests may be made, but only in a professional manner. Once final, no further debate will be allowed.

ADDED RULES IN THE SWEET 16:
I will start discussion threads for each match or quarter. In that those threads, the contestants can discuss who is better, and also (for a change), why they are better than their opponent. However, these cannot be slanderous, meaning you cannot say false statements injurious to a person's reputation. Also, in this thread, eventually the contestants should clearly post a short paragraph underlining his or her contributions in the BS Forum. I will then include this in the first post of each poll thread for the proper matchups.

I think it would've been cooler if we went head to head with the poster and bashed each other. Then voted. That'd be hard to judge though. abyzmul vs. 3rdAnd15Draw would be the match of the century

Wait.. I'm not sure I understand totally. Is Sundayjack still allowed to be a commish after I beat him so badly in round 2 that he quits the board?

How can there be gamesmanship in an awards voting process where campaigning isn't allowed?

Now how are you, Hackett, and SundayJack all in the same part of the bracket?

Hehe, I think I probably would have gotten into it with him when he first registered but I was too busy trading barbs with JohnnyJohnson at the time. Too late now, I like his posts too much.

I think the trashtalking/debate should be in actually the thread of the poll, for example if I'm playing slowmoe so I could debate him in the thread where our poll is, if its all in one thread, it'd be really hard to follow and sway voters decisions.

Debate is a form of campaigning (in this context).

A crappy little BS Bowl logo.
Hopefully it sucks enough that one of the better image guys here will make a nicer one. :)

Hats off to MisterMoss for whooping this thing up again!

As for me, I'll just sit quietly until HSS and Green Hurricane leave each other bloodied and broken, limping into the first round.

Couldn't do it without you. The commissioners are me, you, and Tony. You will have Mod powers in the subforum to help me out with closing threads at as close to the proper time as possible.

I'd like to spend today clarifying some stuff. If we make enough progress, we'll start this on Wednesday. If not, nothing wrong with next week.

Wait, you can't talk yourself up during the voting?
You can talk yourself up. Remember, it's all BS forum themed. Talk up your contributions, or whatever. It's not an election. Try telling people why YOU are so good. Don't bash the other party though. In the course of a debate, you can disagree with your competitor, but don't bash them.

MisterMoss

Also, I hope people have seen how much trouble you can get into by PMing for votes by the recent events that took place in Petro's quest for a Mod.

I really really can't make any changes. I'm sorry it dragged on this long, but I would have to reseed and all, which would take more than reasonable amount of time. Since this will be an annual thing, i can guarantee things will be more prompt next year.

I just had to make a quick change to the tiebreakers. I had changed the names of the rounds, so I had to make an adjustment to what I was referring to.
