I personally am pissed off with the way I have been treated as a viewer. My intellegence has been mocked and my loyalty has been challenged.I have been tested as a viewer and I can't take anymore.

I am with you. I am very anti-lost at this point. Although there are several reasons for my discontent, I will cite the numbers as the biggest reason. I am beyond pissed at the way they made those fucking numbers seem to be the secret behind all mysteries on this island and now they have just blown away with the rest of the half-assed story lines. I am so anti-lost that I would like to request that you appoint me an underboss in this organized crime ring to bring down Lost.

Go ahead. Knock yourself out. Then I won't have to listen to your PMS rantings anymore. Haven't I posted "Stop watching" a million times allready? I support you fully. But why wait for Oct 25th or Nov 1st. You can start today. You could miss some highly intelligent reality show like Hells Kitchen or AIDS roulette. Go! Seize the day!

I like where Lost is going. Who said the numbers are now insignificant. In case you didn't notice, next week, we see what's going on back on the "home" side of the island. I wouldn't believe the numbers are somehow not part of the storyline anymore.
If you don't like the show, then go ahead, walk away. But it's the kind of show that's going to nag at you to know what's going on while you're not watching. But then again, if you manage for people not to ruin it for you, then you can always grab the DVDs after the season ends. Or even watch it online.
As for me, I'm going to watch every week.

Okay, checked out WhyLostSucks.com. That site sucks.
So for those of you who may have missed it, here's a short recap of Episode 2, Season 3. Sawyer made another faux breakout attempt and got beat up, again. Jack sat in his cell with that brooding look, again. We got a flashback of Sun's affair, again. Oh ya, and something new did happen, Sayid managed to lose their boat. Which brings me to my first point. Sayid is supposed to be this bad-ass commando, super-tracker and all around green beret type guy. This guy can't even sit on an empty beach and see 6 people walk down a 1/4 long dock to a sailboat?? Wow, great work there ace. I used to think he was one of the best characters on the show, but tonight's episode really made him look like a chump. The only person that did anything good was poor, frailer little Sun who actually popped a cap into one of the others. Way to go Sun!
I also found it somewhat ironic that the position that evil Ben has put Jack into, is exactly the same position as the viewers of lost are in. Basically he (and we) are told that if we just be good and follow along, all of the questions will be answered and secrets will be revealed in due time. Sure, I won't hold my breath for that.
Yes, Sawyer attempted another escape, and got his ass kicked once again. So what is he supposed to do? Be a good little slave boy? I'm sure that would be complained about as well, for being out of character.
Jack is sitting in a friggin glass box. I'd be brooding too. He knows damn well he can't get out, so what is he supposed to do? Cartwheels? Getting mad about this is retarded.
Sayid is a hardcore Iraqi interrogater, not commando. He is very good at getting information out of people, once they have already been captured. There's never been any mention of this militaristic prowess. Besides, the Others move silently. This was established in season 1. Add to that the fact that both he and Jin were paying attention to the area around the fire, where they expected their "primitive" enemies to come searching, and you have a problem. (Don't forget, WE know they live in nice houses, Sayid's only view of their living places was at the end of last season, when he saw the huts on the shore.) Oh, btw, just because we could see the others on tv, doesn't mean Sayid would have seen them in real life, even if he had been looking. If it were an actual situation, with that group in all black, they would have been too far from the fire to be seen. Sayid forgot his night-vision goggles in Iraq.
Sun got lucky with a shot. She fired out of fear. Good work, yes, but not great.
"Evil" Ben is looking to be set up as a misunderstood idealist. He doesn't believe himself to be "evil." He sees something in Jack, and wants to "convert" him. Yes, he seems to be stringing the carrot out in front of Jack, but it doesn't mean he isn't being honest.
As far as the viewer being strung along, WTF is ABC supposed to do? Lost is a soap. It's not meant to be watched like House, where you can just jump in and "get it." It's a show where you have to be dedicated, week in, and week out. We've known about this for 2 years, why is it such a surprise now?

alio I agree about the soap part, but at some point you have to give the viewer something. ABC is hoping theres alot of retards who will keep on keeping on and waiting for something great to happen...its not going to because there is no great plan...the writers are writing on the fly!!!!garbage
AlioTheFool

So what should ABC give us? What the numbers are for? Well, maybe the Others don't even know. Maybe that's why they are there.
Why Locke can walk? Well maybe that's another island mystery still to be figured out. Hell, even Locke has no idea why it's possible, and he is one of the smartest people on the island.
Who is Sun's baby's daddy? My gut feeling at this point is Jae. But who knows, maybe her and Micheal got a little freaky when Jin was going off the deep end.
I think you guys are trying to make the show into something it isn't. It's written like a soap opera. Each week is a continuation of the storyline. The storyline itself is epic, rather than on a singular person. If you're looking for House, then watch House. If you're looking for quick answers, watch CSI. If you are looking to be left hanging each week, waiting for the next little tidbit, then watch Lost.
Of course these people are writing the script as they go along. There is one overall storyline, with an eventual big ending. In the meantime, they need to approach the episodes in smaller groups. Members of the cast like Matthew Fox (Jack) could leave the show to do other projects, then what? Well, they wrote in the option for him to leave the island. Has anyone noticed, that while there have been more than ample opportunities for Kate to go further with Sawyer or Jack, she hasn't? Could that have something to do with the fact that she and Dominic Monaghan had a baby a few months ago, and are now engaged?
There was a theory that got really popular about midway through season 2 that the writers pay attention to the fan comments on things like message boards, then change the story endings to be opposite what anyone thinks. Why would that be far-fetched? It's the same thing daytime soaps do. Vince McMahon made a fortune playing directly to the crowd, and then stabbing them in the back.
So my question still stands. What exactly is everyone looking for that they aren't getting? In terms of the way the show is being produced, is your expectation realistic? I accept the way it is, and I enjoy it. I am sure it isn't for everyone though. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm curious to know why.

the soap opera comparison runs alot deeper then most people realize. most dramas have continuing season spanning storylines. what makes lost a soap opera is the ridiculous, outlandish plots, the cheesy overacting and the fact that it's geared towards 40 year old housewives.

The original premise is flawed. If a plane breaks apart at that altitude, there would be no one left to be “lost”. It should have been called “Crashed” and been a one episode show.
As someone who has a casual interest in aviation and has learned a fair amount from a Navy pilot friend, the commercials for the pilot episode pissed me off enough to never watch the show. My suspension of disbelief only works for comedy, satire, science fiction, fantasy, and animation. Lost is none of these.

did you read this?I would be pissed if I care about that show still.
November 9, 2006 -- FANS of "Lost" will have to wait more than three months now to find out if three of the show's most beloved characters escape captivity alive - on a show famous for killing off its stars.
Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) ended last night's fall season finale on the cusp of freedom after weeks of being kept as prisoners by the mysterious group of islanders called The Others.
Jack, a spinal surgeon, had just begun to remove a deadly tumor from the group's leader, Ben, a.k.a. Henry Gale, when he nicked an artery and threatened to let the patient die if his friends weren't set free. To make matters more tense, Jack had briefly escaped his cell earlier only to find a closed circuit TV monitor on which he saw Kate and Sawyer holding each other after having sex. The love triangle between the three has been a staple of "Lost" since the show's first episode last year.
It was also revealed that Kate, a killer and a bank robber, was once briefly married to cop.
Viewers will now have to wait until Feb. 7, to find out what happens next. Meanwhile the producers of "Lost" say last night's fall season finale cliffhanger was meant to aggravate fans of the show so that they'll be hungry to watch the series when it returns.
"It will hopefully be good enough to incur major frustration from the audience as to, 'How dare we go off the air for 13 weeks and leave them hanging in that fashion!' " executive producer Damon Lindelof told TV Guide Online.
"The angrier we make them the better the cliffhanger I guess," says executive producer Carlton Cuse, echoing Lindelof.
After just six new episodes, ABC yanked the show off its schedule for 13 weeks so that it will be able to air the final 16 or 17 episodes without any repeats through next May. While HBO has frequently made the same move with hits like "The Sopranos" and "Sex & the City," it's a gamble that no major network was willing to take until now.
Lindelof and Cuse promise that when the show returns it will tie-up many of the loose ends that have been left dangling since last year. "I think there are some upcoming episodes - after the break in the spring - that will answer a number of the open questions. We certainly plan to tell the audience this year how Locke (Terry O'Quinn) got in the wheelchair," added Cuse.
Lindelof also says much of the new episodes will be devoted to, "Peeling back layers of who The Others are, how long they've been on the island, what their origins are. That's really the sort of uber-plot of season three."
