As all of us true baseball fans know, the races are really heating up throughout the league for those four playoff spots in each league. I think it’s a good time for us to post our predictions for this year's playoffs and World Series.
My Predictions:
AL
East: Yankees
Central: Tigers
West: Angels
Wildcard: White Sox
If it works out this way, then I believe the Yankees will play the Chisox and Detroit will play the Angels in the ALDS. Yanks will defeat the Chisox in 5 games and Detroit will defeat the Angels in 4. Then the Yankees will defeat the Tigers in the ALCS in 6 games winning them the pennant.
NL
East:Mets
Central:Cardinals
West:Dodgers
Wildcard:Reds
If it works out this way, i think that the Mets play the Reds and the Cardinals play the Dodgers. In the NLDS, the Mets will sweep the Reds and i think the Dodgers will defeat St. louis in 5 games. Then the Mets will defeat the Dodgers in 5 games to win the NL pennant.
World Series:
Subway series rematch where the Mets defeat the Yankees in 7 games and a return to baseball glory.
Peace out.

Sorry hiker, but after being at the Mets-Cards game tonight, I have to say that the Cards do not look like a good team at all right now (with the exception of Mr. Pujols, of course, and Rolen is doing okay too).

I am really feeling a subway series this year. I don't think the NuYankees can be stopped this season. Boston doesn't have the pitching, Detroit doesn't have the experience.

Twins over Yankees in 5 is a reach.
You'd have to think the Yanks would see Santana and Liriano 3 of the 5 and maybe 4 of the 5 depending on the way it was set up. It's no as far of a reach as you think....
And this isn't directed at you keeprunning but whoever says the Tigers don't have experience have to look no further than the Marlins of 3 years ago. Who on that team had experience? Oh and coincidently the same guy that was the catcher on that team happens to be the catcher on this team. I'd also think Jim Leyland is an upgrade over Jack McKeon.

Even though they are my team, I gotta go with the Yankees. Especially if Boston and the Twins DON'T make the playoffs....

There's no guarantee that Liriano will be pitching by the ALDS, let alone pitching well. And the Yankees have always handled Minnesota pretty well (they take the Pedro approach to Santana--make him throw a ton of pitches and then hit the bullpen.)
My predictions:
AL East: Yankees
AL Central: Tigers
AL West: Athletics
AL Wilcard: White Sox
Yankees defeat White Sox in 4
Tigers sweep Athletics in 3
NL East: Mets
NL Central: Cardinals
NL West: Padres
NL Wildcard: Dodgers

If the Dodgers do get in--a big if--you're probably looking at Brad Penny, Derek Lowe and Greg Maddux in a series. Not necessarily in that order. Too bad we don't have Eric Gagne, it'd be lights out, baby!

I believe Lowe was the starting pitcher in all three clinching games for Boston in the 2004 post season.

Living in Vegas I see alot of the Dodgers and I love the depth they have, that's why I picked them out of the NL. Right now they are a better team than the Mets although the Mets certainly looked strong in whooping the Cards.
The pitching is pretty good and those 3 guys pitching have all proved they can win in the postseason, but then look at the pen and guys like Billngsly and Sele coming out along with Broxton and Biemel with Saito closing and this team is very good. I really hope they bring Hung-Chih Khuo up as he has given up 1 run in his last 23 innings and he is a starter with the 51s.

Their starters are better, if Penny can pitch in the pressure of the postseason, however the Mets lineup and bullpen are vastly superior to the Dodgers
Our bullpen is a full run less than the dodgers when it comes to ERA

Penny won two games in the 2003 World Series vs the Yankmees, and I think a couple in those playoffs. He was hurt when the Dodgers played the Cards in the 2004 playoffs.

only 2.5 back now!
No matter what happens you have to admire how the Marlins are competing...they were widely predicted to lose 100+ games this year and be one of the bottom-rung teams. The pitching has been amazing and the young players have surprised. Thank you Theo for Dan Uggla, Hanley Ramirez, and Anibal Sanchez!

I just read about him telling the owner to sit down and shut up during an argument on the field at Dodger Stadium. That's awesome. The guy wanted to fire him that day but management talked him out of it.
