What are people worried about? It's only the bottom of the third, and we're only down two.

A-Rod has a great series, then commits a couple of errors, and suddenly he's crap again. When are the fair-weathers going to "get it?"

Even though I like A-Rod, can't blame people for getting on him. He has not had an "A-Rod" stretch at all this year, and when he's hitting well it's a fielding problem, and when he's fielding well it's a hitting problem. This is a totally different player from the guy we saw last year. This is even worse than 2004.

Yeah, he's struggled a bit this year. More in the field than at the plate, but big deal. Had Matsui and Sheff been in the lineup all year, does A-Rod hit significantly more homers? Probably.

Is he a great 3B? No. But then again, he is the best SS playing out of position in baseball. He's had some struggles this year. I'm not going to get down on him for it.

Remember when the Yankees got swept at almost this exact time last year by the Royals?

Same as the A-Rod thing. 7 min opening.

Well, the M&M's had nothing to do with her. It was just an idea I got into my head, so I made it. I didn't even know she had a green M&M for her avatar.

This new one is just temporary. It will be back to the M&M's tomorrow. I made this one specifically because of PF4. She knew I was going to, I warned her. Check out the last two pages of the "Bunker" thread.

From day one A-Rod has not been accepted by the majority of Yankees fans, even during his MVP season. This season the boos started earlier, which is why ESPN and the NY media made it a big deal.

I have to agree here. The Media Started it with the Fake stories on Jeter-A-Rod then continued to look for any little thing.
Once A-Rod started having trouble the Media was all over it including Fan and all the other outlets. The fans Ate it up and wear it on their sleeve like a bunch of Branded Zombies.

Remember, The More they keep it going, the More papers they sell.

While I agree Philips rides Arod, to think he's be getting by scott free without Philips and the Post is to say he isn't struggling. Anybody can see he is underperforming, Philips and the like just throw fuel on the fire. In fact some were killing ARod as soon as he started playing for the Yanks.

The whole point is that the booing is affecting A-Rod. Anyone who believes otherwise is crazy. It is one thing to get booed on the road, but to take it from your own fans, on your own turf, that's just hard to deal with.

As far as him playing out of position, it's not like a SS going to first. 3B is a totally different position from SS. I played both, and neither position is the same. I was a better 3B than a SS. The plays you need to make at third involve more quick reflexes, where SS requires more athleticism and range. It's a huge transition.

What came first the chicken or the egg? Is he boo'ed for his struggles or are his struggles due to the boo's? Only Alex really knows the answer to that... but I will say this... what's the other option? To sit silent? To cheer him for bad play? Neither of those options seem realistic to me.

No question it's a tough transition, but it's one that he chose and the NYY supported. At the end of the day saying "he is the best SS playing out of position in baseball" is meaningless because he's no longer the best SS in baseball because he doesn't play the position.... he's become just a decent third baseman.

Well, the big problem is that the boos started way too quickly, and way too loud. My opinion is that the media fueled that fire, and the sheep followed along blindly.

As for 3B, I totally agree. He is not the best SS in baseball now, since he doesn't play the position. However, for people to get on him because he is just a decent 3B is unfair.

Let's remember, the biggest reason A-Rod is a Yankee is so that he is not a Red Sock. He would be playing SS in Boston had the Yankees not been the winner of the sweepstakes. Put him in Boston, with Manny and Ortiz, playing SS, and you have a totally different player. He is playing 3B here because Jeter was quite clear he would not give up his position for anyone, including A-Rod.

I understand your point, but it's the poeple's right to boo whatever they want... and frankly, despite the fact he is my favorite Yankee, I don't blame them. He has to play through the boo's just like everybody else.

As for 3B, I totally agree. He is not the best SS in baseball now, since he doesn't play the position. However, for people to get on him because he is just a decent 3B is unfair.

Yeah but the expectation is for him to be the best player in baseball, and he's not anymore... part of that is b/c his value to his team is diminished playing 3rd as opposed to SS. Unless he lives up to his MVP salary and reputation every year by either putting up MVP numbers or carrying his team to a WS... he will be considered a dissapointment by some.

Let's remember, the biggest reason A-Rod is a Yankee is so that he is not a Red Sock. He would be playing SS in Boston had the Yankees not been the winner of the sweepstakes. That's oretty much irrelavant to my point. That said, Seattle, Texas, or Boston may have ended up being a better choice for him in the long run... only time will tell.

I'm out!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's the second series loss in the last 14. Sure that's great, but it's not that that is getting me so stressed.

I am having fits over having runners in scoring position a dozen times a game, and not driving any of them in. It's sad that with this much pop in the lineup, guys just can't bring the runs in.
