I'd say Mets because he was with them longer and therefore made more of an impact.
However, he was a better player earlier in his career, so it could go either way.

I don't need the stats for this one. Mark was well on the path to the Hall of Fame after leaving the Dodgers, but with the Mets, he became the face of the franchise and the heart and sole of their playoff teams.
EDIT: Clearly his name is Mike

He was a better player with the Dodgers, but he made his name and made his career with the Mets. Besides, the numbers are a little skewed for the Mets because his last year or two were declining years.
No love for him going to the HOF as a Marlin?

He was certainly a better player for the Dodgers, 97 was just an amazing year, but even with that I think most baseball fans would see him as a Met and that's how he should go into the hall.

Even as a Dodger fan, I'd have to say the Mets. He was there (or here) longer and reached the World Series.
I disagree that he "made his name" here, he was one of the elite players in the game while with the Dodgers, before he came to New York. New York made him a bit bigger but he was already a big star. He was almost an impossible out at times with the Dodgers, I was pissed for years after they traded him.

The only thing the Dodgers have in their favor, is that no other team in baseball gave him his chance to play. Which is tremendous.
But he broke records with the Mets, and as cliche as it is...that post 9/11 homer against the Braves made people forget everything bad, even if it was only for a moment.
That home run went beyond just doing something for the Mets and their fans. It spoke volumes about what a welcomed distraction sports are in general, to all who consider themselves fans.

Why the Mets he never won a ring .The Dodgers and Tommy Lasorda gave him a shot at baseball. He owes the Dodgers organization. He owes the Mets nothing he played on some crappy teams while with the Mets who were too cheap to bring in quality players. The Mets showed him no loyalty this year at all. Dodgers all the way.

The dumbass Dodgers traded him in mid-season because FOX didn't want to pay him $90 million. Then they gave Kevin Brown $100 million and a plane the following off-season. The Dodgers immediately went from contenders to also-rans, the Mets went from also-rans to contenders to the World Series. The Dodgers have won one playoff game since. At least the Mets gave him a going away party of some sort.
And yes, Skip Bayless is a slapdick. Why is he even on TV?
And why is someone named "Raiderjoe" editing my posts?

Does the Baseball Hall of Fame have that retarded rule where you have to where the cap that you played for the longest? Whether they do or not, I have to say the Mets.

^Well Clemens played longer as a member of the Boston Red Sox... I'm not entirely sure but I believe thats how they do it.

They do it by tenure and by number of "quality" years. Basically they're going to try and get the Yankees back for that whole Dave Winfield mess IMO. Clemens should go in as a Yankee because he wants to be a Yankee, and it's not like Wade Boggs going in as a Devil Ray--he won his ring with the Yanks, he had some of his greatest seasons as a Yankee.

If they made the rule like "you had to have played for this team for x(maybe 5) years to have them on your plaque" then everything would just be fine. Players could choose, Boggs doesn't go in as a DRay, and everyone is happy.

Why? Clemens was mediocre as a Yankee. He had about 12 seasons better then his best as a Yankee.

Actually it was the Omalley family who didn't want to pay him.

I'd have to look it up, but I think FOX was running things by 1998. If not they were on their way in and likely calling the shots. Piazza's contract would have been up at the end of 98 and they traded him in May.
To make matters worse, the Marlins turned him around in a week and got a better deal for him than we got. The whole thing stunk to high hell.

What did the dodgers end up getting for Piazza?

Gary Sheffield, Jim Eisenreich, Charles Johnson and someone else who escapes me at the moment, for Piazza and Todd Zeile, I think. Sheffield replaced Piazza's bat to a degree but was a constant headache. The team was never the same after that trade.

I think Bonilla was involved in that deal as well.
Of course then the Marlins flipped him to the Mets for basically nothing. I know Preston Wilson was a decent prospect at that point but he never really amounted to anything, and the other 2 pitchers the Mets sent pitched a total of 20 ML innings.

Is that all Florida got for him? I know they were in fire sale mode after winning the 1997 World Series, but I thought they got AJ Burnett and some good guys in that deal. Well, that makes me feel a little better, 8 years later.
Yeah, Bonilla was the guy I forgot. How could I forget that? We added Sheffield and Bonilla to our clubhouse in place of Piazza, who was the centerpiece of the team. Wonderful.

Burnett was part of the package for Al Leiter (February 1998).

No way. Sure he won his championships with the Yankees, but overall, he was an above average pitcher while he was here. He should go in with the Sox, no doubt.

Clemens should go in with a B on his cap.

192 of his wins (more than half) came in a Red Sox uniform, as did 3 Cy Youngs and his MVP. He's a Red Sox in the Hall.
