I have started prepping for my drafts, and I think 4 is really the doghouse this year. The top 3 are set, LJ, LT, Alexander, in what ever order you want, but who is there at 4? Edge, Tiki, Portis, Rudi Johnson? These are the guys I have seen going there, and none of them are layups. 4-7 is a tough hole this year in my opinion. I dont know where I am drafting yet in my drafts, but I hope its not in there. Do you go WR? Peyton? I would personally lean towards Edge or Rudi, but both of those teams are probably going to be pass first Os. Tough call, curios what people think.

Portis... he has the KC Offensive co-ordinator now, and you've seen what he can do with runningbacks

I would go with Peyton at #4. He is the top rated QB and if you thought he threw alot before, what do you think he will do with Addai and Rhodes in the backfield.
I would probably then go
Edge
Portis
Tiki
I would also probably take Steve Smith before going with Rudi. Rudi is a second rounder on my board.

If I have the #4 pick I am going with Portis, but that is right before I smash a brick into my forehead.
I agree with you 4-7 are the worst slots. After that you can get 2 RBs with as much value as the guys picked between 4 and 7. Then when it becomes time for the 4-7 slots to pick, most good RBs are gone so you are stuck with 1 good RB 1 good WR.
I would def. consider Peyton except for some reason this RB pool seems extremely weak. As in there are only like 20 starters. It just seems like a ton of teams either have RBBC (Panthers, Patriots, Saints) or have really old and/or frail starters (Jets, Packers, Giants) or no one has emerged for your team (49ers). I think it is going to come down to whoever gets luckiest with the T.Jones/C.Benson, J.Addai/D.Rhodes, C.Dillon/L.Maroney, etc. matchups. You have potential studs in that group, but also potentially horrible picks.
So as much as it sucks and while I agree Peyton is probably the best available at #4, I gotta go Portis (close second is Edgerrin James).

I would also take Steven Jackson before Rudi.

I thought about Steven Jackson as well, waiting for him to break out, sadly waited all last year. Rudi is not real flashy, but I think he puts up solid numbers. 1450+ in yards last two years. 12tds each year. I am not sold on him, I just think he belongs in the discussion with this group this year.
I can see Peyton, I had him two years ago (the monster year and got him on the turn, I was drafting 12 & 13. I dont think a WR goes that high, although Steve Smith should have a huge year.
