everywhere you look online it says its coming out the 20th
the tv commercial says the 22nd.
the release date was scheduled for the 20th since they advertised the game.
im definitely getting it no matter when its available. you must be a diehard football fan to play this though, you dont control the players, its all strategy and motivating your players at the right time.
with NFL licensing and help from 30 out of 32 NFL coaches to develop the game (Parcells and Belichick not included) it should be a worthy product for the only people who should enjoy playing this.........diehard football fans and simulation nuts

i check the bestbuy website said pc and xbox versions release 22nd and ps2 on 23rd. but thats their website and im sure thats based on when they can stock and ship them as opposed to actually going to a local store.
anyways, i expect it to be out tomorrow, as every Tues is when they ship out new releases via Music/DVD's.
I'm going to be in Manhattan probably tomorrow and hopefully I can find it somewhere in Times Sq.

There's just nothing there that makes it entertaining. The offseason on Madden is fun, but that offseason multiplied by like 50,000 is just brutal. It took hours just to get to training camp, and by then I was just simming past the redundant stuff. All in all, a huge disappointment, definitely rent it if you have any interest in getting it, save the money.

I went three paragraphs in and that was enough. Thing is with me, I read enough NFL stuff and look at depth charts and play fantasy football, that when I play a video game I just want to play a game, as in Jets vs Dolphins. I don't want to spend hours reading emails and negotiating contracts.
I don't think it was here, I think it was in DonnieIsTheKing's OOTP thread, where someone remarked sim sports games involve knowledge and education and Madden-type games involve hand-eye coordination.
I like the hand-eye thing better when I'm playing video games. I'll leave the knowledge and education to reading the sports pages, sports books, watching games, and stuff of that nature.
In other words, this Head Coach game would bore me very quickly. I'm going to save my money for the new NCAA and Madden games.
NCAA is going to have so many plays it is ridiculous. (See my post in the NCAA screenshots thread.)
To those who buy this game, good luck with it and hopefully you are able to get your money's worth.
By the way, that Arena Football game- pretty darn good and this coming from a guy who doesn't care for Arena Football.

yeah the offseason can be extremely brutal............but i just take care of immediate needs like re-signing and scouting and the draft, i simmed a great deal of it up to preseason.
i mean it doesnt surprise me tho its a game where you dont control the players. but you do just about everything imaginable to run a team. which sounds fun but can be boring if your not willing to get into every little facet of how a team operates.
ionno i like it, its a good time eater between sleep and a desk job. and itll make me think a football season is going on while im salivating for real gridiron action. but the game is either going to be a real big hit or miss, no in-between.

I got the game.. once you do things like the draft it's cool.
I made these moves with the Jets so far..
Traded Mawae and McCareins to Atlanta for Pick #15
Traded Abe and Law to AZ for #10 and a 3rd rounder
My draft:
4. Bush
10. D'Brick
15. Santonio Holmes
2nd Rd. Nick Mangold
then nothing too major after, got Devin Hester in the 5th.
Trade: Curtis Martin for Ben Roethlisberger.... ?

I heard that games are more realistic. None of these 70-63 scores and people going for it on 4th and 7 from their own 26 yard line crap.
It sounds like this game resembles actual football more so than the Madden games.
Still sounds like a bore, though.

I traded Law to NO also, picked Bush.
Abe & a 2nd to TENN, picked Leinart
D'Brick with my pick.
Mawae & McCareins & 3rd to Oak, picked Vernon Davis(plus a 3rd)
Signed Antonio Gates, traded him+some random player to ATL, drafted Santonio Holmes.
Traded Penny+5+6 to Dallas, got Tye Hill.
Signed Peerless Price, traded him+7+C.Mart to Kansas City, got Ernie Sims.
Traded Fiedler+Gragg+Oak 3rd to INDY, got Mangold.
Traded Baker + Cotchery + Jolley to Tenn for Pacman Jones.
My draft was over. Overall, I think I did great, picked up a great young core and dumped contracts that blew.
OUT:
Abe, Mawae, McCareins, Penny, C.Mart, Fiedler, Gragg, Gates, Price, Law, Baker, Cotchery, Jolley.
IN:
Bush, Leinart, Mangold, D'Brick, Vernon Davis, Tye Hill, Sims, Pacman.
Some of these trades are redonkulous, like the Pacman trade I was just throwing in names I didn't want and they said OK.
I simmed through a season before I left just for kicks and I went 10-6, so it looks like it was good. I missed the playoffs, NE won division and Miami won the WC on a tiebraker.
So far, I'm enjoying it. Some of the trades are Maddenesque(Jones, again) but it makes the game fun. I don't listen at all to my coaches, I could care less what they have to say cause it's mostly bs crap anyways.
While I like it, I'm glad I didn't pay 40 bucks for it. This is one of the games if you wait a couple months you'll pick it up used for 10.

So far I love it. I can't think of many other people like me that will though. I'm doing every bit of the offseason.
I have the most AMAZING coaching staff. Took over the Bucs and made Gruden my OC. Kiffin is already the best DC in the league. And totally new POsition crew with a killer QB coach. Olive or something like that.
How is it working out with salary caps, penalties, contract negotiations and holdouts?
that's one of the things that bothered me with Madden '06, that the contract couldn't be backloaded or anything. I see guys saying they got 3 picks in the first round and stuff like that, and it seems a tad bit difficult to pull all of that off.
Is the game literally a matter of calling plays and watching the PC execute them? Part of the joy of Madden is controlling the running on your own and using the truck stick once you find your money play that'll be a guaranteed first down everytime you try.
Seems like all the side stuff, like keeping players happy, etc, would be a fun addition to the Franchise Modes already established rather than a whole game. I think I'd see myself simulating everything.

You cannot control any players. You call the plays and watch them execute them. Many people would then feel like executing the game.

I suspected this game would be silly in some parts. I suspected this because I remember franchise mode in Madden being less than adequate.
I went over to the EA Sports site and read this. I'm now completely turned off to the game.
I'm very disappointed in this game on a very large scale. I'm going to attempt to keep this fact-based, so that if/when this is passed on to the developers/management/etc they'll consider the comments and analysis valid and to the point, rather than some nerd rage or comments of some random idiot. (feel free to look up my demographic information if you feel the need, I'm not a ranting teenager).
This game embarasses EA, it embarasses the NFL, it mocks the concept of an exclusive license for the NFL and is for the most part cheating people out of their money.
Here's why:
The game doesn't follow NFL rules. It has a lot of nice shiny things to show people who know nothing about the NFL things that make them say "oooh" and "aaah", but under the very thin surface lies a mess that doesn't resemble anything that anyone would want to play.
for starters, NFL rosters can be well over 55 players in training camp (as that's the whole point OF the NFL draft and free agency). In fact, at most points before the first preseason game they can be as high as 85 players. That's why teams draft 7+ players and almost instantly after the draft sign 5-10 non-drafted free agents to training camp contracts. This game does nothing to address that, and even makes you drop your own veteran players to sign your draft picks. That has never happened, and will never happen in the NFL.
The idea that a person can only make two roster adjustments in the course of a quarter of their day is laughable. The idea that someone can only make 4 roster adjustments in one day (for a total of 20 in one week) is absurd to say the least. Re- ordering a depth chart is a routine part of a coach's job. Why there are 2 "action points" other than to tell a management person that they added some ACTION to a stat geek game is beyond me, and detrimental to the actual gameplay.
I assume the hiring process is meant to be "mysterious", but only being able to get an abstract representation of a single stat for a coach that may be in charge of the entire defense is a very terrible idea. The interview process is cute, but misleading and doesn't actually reveal anything at all about why someone would be a good fit as a coach. Instead, the only real solution is to save/reload until you find the coach that doesn't ****. Not what anyone wants out of a stat game to say the least.
Contracts are horrible. Salary, Bonus, Duration. That's it? This is a stat geek/sim game. We know you're capable of putting in absurdly complicated contractual situations based on the way things go in the real NFL. I believe that everyone would like the option (obviously you don't have to do it) to sign contracts based on incentives, playing guarantees, clauses, and all the other nuances that real NFL players have in their contracts. If a player starts 12 games, they get $100k. Pro Bowl bonuses, playoff incentives, etc. Something to make one team's offer stand out...
which brings me to the next point, in that Free Agency is an absolute joke. People never turn you down because you don't fit what they want in a team. (or maybe out of the 22 FA's I signed, they all really wanted to play for the Rams?). The only negotiation is in $$, and it's very basic. Agents don't counter-offer with anything but their initial demand. There's really no negotiating, it's "here's my offer, either hit my magical undeclared threshold for a yes, or I'll keep saying the same thing or just say no". There's nothing to do with free agency. You don't get a rival team attempting to out-bid you for a guy, you don't get any depth at all. That's great if this were yet another Madden game, but this is supposed to be a stat geek game, and having played stat geek games for years, this is a bad thing.
Scouting is also fairly horrible, but I suppose it's more of a function of not being in control of a scout than anything. I'd kinda like to be able to fire a horrible scout that tells me to draft bad players, and never gives a positive result on any scouting assignment. I don't really need a guy to scout 8 guys and tell me that all 8 guys are bad. But, I assume it's just because I have a bad scout and I can't fire him. If we're in charge of negotiating player contracts (what a GM would do), then firing a scout is something I'd figure that would be within the scope of my duities too.
honestly, I could probably name some more, but this is enough of a turn-off that I'm just really not going to play the game I spent $40 on. That's a shame. If I wanted a carved-out version of the simulation that comes with Madden 2002, I could just go back to playing that, since this is mostly the same quality.
I'm very disappointed that this game is really this bad. I know that the idea of EA US talking to the EA Canada people is pretty unlikely, but for the 2008 version, could you guys possible collaborate on something good instead?

FIFA Manager is a wonderful product, and although it has its flaws, it's a very well done and robust game. You can ignore things if you feel it's too tedious or complex, or you can dive into them if you've got a lot of time and desire to micromanage. NFL Head Coach doesn't offer that. It seems to want to force you into doing less the more you play it, rather than offering a deep game that can be replayed over and over.
And that's a shame, especially with the exclusive license and the fact that people who want a more robust game experience are stuck with absolutely nothing. Myself, I'm going to go back to FIFA Manager and slowly work my way towards having the American team win the World Cup in 2014. I'm not going to bother buying another NFL- related product until there's healthy competition again in the marketplace.
Here is the torrent for the PC version of the game

Yup the full game, and Cakes this is why I waited until the torrent came or rent this game, after playing it for a couple of days, I will agree that it isn't worth $40, and something with the game are annoying like being limited to 2 roster moves every quarter of a day, or only being able to trade a player once a week each day, however I want to see if the progression is exactly like Madden 2006 like the gameday flaws are
I played it once and haven't put it back in.
I would bring it to a game store and sell it but you would get virtually nothing, considering tons of people are probably doing it.

thank you msu jet and yea drew almighty i hate eb games they are like a frickin dictatorship they buy ur games for 3 dollars and sell them for 15 this lil kid prob about 5 was tryin to buy a new game and he brougt in a bag full of games and some games thyey were given him like 7 cents i mean like this isnt the companies fault but the person workin there should have said something to the kid like he was gettin rippped off i felt like he was stealin his dignity these were games he loved that he was givin away for something new and he had to give up tons of his old games that in my opinion are still worth playin for one new game. they need to change there policy i think we should start a revoloution to bring down this tyrant. Like would a policy like turn in 2 games and the games u buy for that year are 10% off turn in 5 games and all the games u buy that year are 15% so this way u come back more and the company is makin more money and u arent gettin ripped so hard. i dont know

I defense of EB games, it is not their fault customers are stupid. If you want to get rid of a game I have one word for you. EBAY. If you can get more from EB games good for you, but if they are giving you seven cents, sell it on ebay.
And the 5 year old has parents. They should be aware of what is happening.

It needs to be during SIGN PLAYERS, and you need to go to SALARAY CAP not ROSTER. You can also use your phone.
I have to agree. The 1st we was great. But after 4 Superbowls, COTY award, #1 O and D 2 years running, and already being a top 15 coach of all time I'm bored. I picked up some good cordinators and in 4 years I have made them all 99 overall. Any of them could be extremely successful as a HC, yet I continue to sign them as cordinators. I think I'm just going to switch teams or something. Ruling a dysnasty is no fun. All my starters are or are close to 99 overall. Vince Young is sick, and I have like 10 other 1st round players from the last draft. Holmes is nasty too.

Believe as the play ends hold/press the square key (PS2). should bring up your audible list & rush the players to the line.
11-1 atm .. only loss to the Pats in week 2 (24-21), but I spanked em hard second time around. Bush was there at #4 drafted his ass right up ... Got Mangold etc. Maurice Drew was never drafted ... signed him to be my #2. Team rocks.

Thats really not a bad idea . Id go for it . Sony and the game manufacturers are against used games . Sony even went the distance of having the PS3 destroy a layer of the new PS3 games as a anti piracy and resell of games . They might even incorporate it into the PS3 which would mean you wouldnt be able to rent a game or play a game at a buddies house that you have played on your PS3 youd have to bring your consoul !

Got it yesterday and my son said the same exact thing, but I believe you can go right to an exhibition game and coach, which I will try, because I don't need all that other crap....
If you sim basically right to the draft and then sim right to training camp you skip all the boring stuff and its not that bad....but if u play every day all the way to the regular season without simming it is like torture.....they cerainly did a horrible job with the offseason...
