News
The Yankees have placed Bubba Crosby on the DL and brought up Mitch Jones as his replacement. With Jones, you're bringing up a player (no longer a prospect at age 28) who has mediocre plate discipline and has struggled to even make contact in the minor leagues. In his defense, Jones does drive the ball when he does hit it and over the course of his minor-league career, 50% of the hits he has have been of the extra base variety (48% at AAA). However, do you really think that major league pitchers aren't going to be feasting on this guy? He might get a few XBHs every now and again when he guesses right but other than that, I see a lot of Ks in his future. (To view links in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Carl Pavano has a bone chip in his arm and needs surgery, per Joe Torre on WFAN. It is in his pitching arm, right above his elbow. Torre says Pavano still may pitch this season.
Gary Sheffield will be out for another 2 weeks, at least, per Suzyn Waldman on WFAN. "He's out for 2 more weeks. I know because I know." Great sources, Suzyn.
- Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez are a combined 2–for-20 against Gonzalez…
- The Mets are 7–0 in the first game of a home series…

Heilman has 7 holds and 1 blown save, I hardly think that equates to "preserving 3-4 wins a week". Not to mention with the starters the Mets are trotting out there there haven't been many wins to preserve anyway.
