View Full Version : My Jets/Lions Trade Idea...

I was thinking about how some people want Cutler at #4 but we really could get him at #9 (lions pick)...

So what about this? ...

Lions get #4 overall pick & David Barrett OR Ty Law

Jets get #9 overall pick & Dre' Bly

This way, we'd have our CB situation figured out and settled, and we'd get or QB :D

OR we could do this...

Lions get #4 pick & D-Rob

Jets get #9 pick & Shaun Rogers

what about these 2 possibilites?

The Lions would be insane to offer either... I don't really like the first but I love the second option. Shaun Rodgers is an animal. Won't happen though... the difference between him and D-Rob is not 5 spots it's more like 15-20 spots.

The only realistic trade option btwn the two is the #4 for the #9 and #41 IMO

that would also be an awesome idea....basically i'm just saying that we shouldn't take cutler at 4 if we do end up taking him

We shouldnt take Cutler period and I dont think weve heard anything but rumors. I think we should give Pennington one more year here. I think the most we should do this year is get a stopgap QB, nothing else

I like the idea of moving down to take Cutler and the Lions could be a good fancing partner but how about swapping the #4 and #9 and have them throw in a 3rd and 4th instead of a 2nd rounder. Think about that we would have

a 1st
a 2nd
3 3rds
3 4ths possibly 4 fourth rounders depending on comp picks

that could be 7-8 picks in the 1st 4 rounds along with an extra 5th rounder 10 picks in the 1st 5 roundsis a great way to build build build.....

yes, we should keep chad here...and i hope he takes atleast 2 million off his 8-9 he's supposed to get...

although i do think we should sign a good veteran QB who could start...i dont feel safe with brooks as #2....speaking of backups....howcome everybody acts like Fiedler won't be here next year?...are we ditching him or what?

wow that is a really great idea Rich,

although we probably won't find anybody great in the 4th or 5th rounds..and if we do it will only be 1 or maybe 2 guys....but i see where you're heading with this, and i like it:wink:

I'd prefer to get a 2nd rounder... a high 2nd round pick has about an 85% chance of becoming a dependable starter while the 3rd and 4th would be about 60% and lower. I'd rather have 1 useful player then 500 useless ones.

I think your probably right .... looking at our roster we have alot of those useless guys as opposed to the one useful 1.

My reasoning is we have lots of holes and absolutely no depth on our OL with Fabini, Mawae and Kendall expected to get the axe. That leaves us Jones, Moore , Goodwin and who? Remember we failed to take an OL in last years draft. Yes it would be nice to grab a guy like Eslinger or Jean-Giles in the 2nd round but I'd much rather have 4 or 5 decent mid round OL that can move around than 1 or 2 solid OL that can play only one position.

well you've gotta ask yourself...

Would you rather have an all around great team, but if you get injured in a spot, you're screwed....

or a team that's pretty good, but not great...but hey! if somebody gets hurt, then no biggie, we've got awesome depth

i'd take the 1st one, cuz you cant win a SB with a team that's "pretty good"...you've gotta be GREAT and you've gotta get lucky with no injuries

Why would the Lions want to include any players in the deal? Neither makes any sense for them, and I think you could argue they would downgrade in either situation.

they could move up and take DBrick or Hawk....how is that a downgrade from whoever they'd get at #9?

The cap hits for both sides on those trades would be absolutely terrible.

The only reason you are saying that is because you want us to lose so we can get Quinn

NYJATW

I think we should trade our 1st round pick to the lions to get Jon McGraw!....that's right, McGraw is the best safety in the NFL and i think we could MAYBE steal him for a 1st rounder....thoughts?

according to what you said ^ ...

i think you're insane

Who wouldn't want Quinn over Cutler. At least Quinn knows how to win a game. He's gone toe to toe with the best teams in the league and pulled some great wins but also had some tough losses. Cutler is just a practice player who will always look great when throwing inside an empty gym, but put him on the field with 21 other players and he is just average.

Because Dre Bly > David Barrett
And Shaun Rogers > Dewayne Robertson
And the benefit of moving up 5 picks does not seem to outweigh that for them. Not to mention cap penalties.

I dont want us to lose. In fact either way wed be better off if Chad came back at full power and won us games. Id rather that happen than us having to once again address the position. But if he cant than most likely wed be in prime position to snag Quinn. Its not like Cutler would start this year anyway, so either way, without Chad, I dont see us doing well period

1028, Im so jealous of your rugged good looks and granite chiseled body that I just make up quotes about you in an attempt to degrade you and make me feel better about myself. In reality I have a shrine of you in my closet and whenever you see me offline, contrary to what you may think, Im not busy, at school, or sleeping, but at the shrine making animal sacrifices to appease you. I actually go through 3 boxes of tissues and 2 bottles of lube a week. I am pathetic and I worship you.

I think I'd go with the good but not great team with tons of depth. Just look up to FoxBoro for that. Do they have any great players or a bunch of good players with incredible depth that have bought into a system that we are going to try to impliment here.

I'll take no superstars with great depth over a team with 1 or 2 superstars that take up 1/4 of the salary cap which leaves no room for solid backups.... ie the 2005 New York Jets
