Jets at Baltimore Tailgate

I've seen a lot of posts in the ticket forum about people looking for tickets for the game in Baltimore. Since we are all going to be down there we should find a place to meet up and have a tailgate. I figured it would be better to start this earlier than later so whoever is going down there for the game post in here and maybe we can get something together down there. Plus if anyone ends up with extra tickets they can post in here for all the people who won't have tickets.

good thing someone posted over here i dont have the 50 posts yet to look into the tix board. But i will be there for sure i already bought my tickets. Grayhound i am down for a tailgate but i think their parking spaces are limited to season ticket holders, not 100% sure. we should all get together and show them how to tailgate jets style!

not really. It's not Landover or Philly. Opponent fan problems generally occur only when there is alcohol-induced taunting. (except for Steelers fans -- always a problem when they wave those ugly yellow rags in your face). Don't be a jerk and you'll probably be OK.

You'd probably be subject to more harassment wearing a Yankees hat than a Jets jersey.

True. But there are plenty of private lots along Warner street (south of the Stadium), Ostend Street (east), and the Staples lot on Russell Street (Baltimore-Washington Parkway terminus - just northeast of the Stadium). You cannot tailgate in the garages north of the baseball stadium.

There's a Stadium lot diagram at the baltimoreravens dot com web-site (sorry, your board doesn't permit links until 50 posts (DUMB!) & I'm here for just a short pregame visit).

Lots H & J are the biggest tailgating centers. I would expect to see the largest contingent of Jets fans at the northern end of Lot J, where private busses park.

Parking for visitors can be a challenge. City cops are quick to have your illegally parked vehicle towed for $200 release. You may want to consider picking up the Light Rail, or parking remotely downtown and meeting up. There is plenty of food & drink available for purchase from vendors, esp along Eutaw Street Promenade (conncects baseball & football stadia), and an outside bar.


Any more questions about the Stadium, the City, tailgating, driving directions etc. I'll try to answer.

how much is parking on an off site lot?

$40 closer to the stadium. 6-10 blocks away it's going to be in the $10 to $20 range.

Avoid parking in very small lots due to scams. And dont even think about street parking within 10 blocks -- they tow.

and how far from the stadium is it?

the closest pay parking that I know are

- Staples (3 blocks),

- the lot at the SE corner of the intersection of Sharp & West Ostend - under the I-395 viaduct,

- or the smaller private lots along Warner Street, just south of the Stadium about 3-4 blocks.

the garages are north and northeast of Orioles Park, along Pratt Street.

An alternative to tailgating would be to park at the Inner Harbor about 6 blocks away - many garages - and hit Harborplace or any of the bars along Pratt Street near Orioles Park.

Also note: there is major construction on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway northbound approaching the Stadium. It's a traffic nightmare for games. I-395 is usually also pretty jammed up going to the stadium lots, but it may be OK to bear left towards Inner Harbor area garages.

There are some other city street shortcuts which are hard to describe. The probable best would be exit at MD 2 south after the I-95 Ft. McHenry tunnel. Go south a few blocks, take a jug handle turn just before the bridge to reverse course onto MD 2 Hanover Street north. Turn left at West Ostend Street. There are several lots along the way, which may be open to public. But keep going to get closer to the Stadium. Left at Sharp (only traffic signal). You can take the immediate right into the lot under the I-395 viaduct, or keep going, follow RR tracks, turn left at Warner for many small lots.

Yes. Most suburban stations are safe and ample parking. The ticketing machines are difficult - old technology. The football stadium station exit is 200 feet from the stadium entrance.

There are no free locations -- it's $1.65 each way. Parking is free (except the BWI airport station). When I used to take it, I parked at the southern tip, the Glen Burnie - Cromwell station, off MD 648 (two exits south of the Beltway off I-97). Large commuter parking lot. Stations along the way are smaller and more likely to run into SRO capacity issues. I can't tell you much about the north side, along I-83 -- never travelled there. The closest northside stations to the Beltway are Green Spring and Timonium, off MD 45 or I-83 north. It's 1/2 hour train ride from suburban stations. (I would not recommend inner city stations for parking your vehicle & safety)

It's not as convenient as driving, but more convenient than parking if you don't have a reserved spot & a lot cheaper.

Scams such as someone taking your $20 & disappearing, then the real property owner returns & has your vehicle towed. It has happened - more than once.

Arriving that late will likely present you with a headache & a problem. The larger surface lots which are open to the public which I described above are likely to be filled. You may get lucky and find a small lot along Warner or West Ostend. I recommend instead that you not get tied up in thick stadium traffic and instead go to one of the parking garages along Pratt Street, Lombard Street, Univ of Maryland, or Inner Harbor. Take I-395, bear left, becomes a surface boulevard, 2nd light turn right onto Pratt for the big garages. The biggest garage is called "Down Under", at West Lombard + South Hanover Streets, and the closest garages are a couple small garages along Light Street. Use a GPS or Mapquest.

why do they have to make it so god damn hard build a stadium that has enough parking spots dammit. At least we have an excuse for not having enough spots, whats theirs. I agree 100%. Maryland politicians, esp. those from the City, wanted the Camden Yards sports complex to help revitalize the City (which it has), but it's tight downtown. And getting worse, with the elimination of two large surface lots across from Orioles Park to build the convention center hotel.

It's really not a problem for us Ravens season ticket holders. There's ample parking & train & express bus service. But my sympathies to visitors.

On the flip side: downtown does come alive for Ravens games. Many dozens of bars & restaurants near the Stadium are very lively before & way after the Ravens games.

Good luck finding parking. Best advice is to try to get there before 1 pm.

The Metro runs East-West from Johns Hopkins Hospital to Owings Mills, out I-795. Its closest stadium stop is the Charles Center, a good 15 block walk to the Stadium. Or switch to Light Rail at Lexington Market station.

Although the B&O Camden Station is a couple blocks from the Stadium, the geniuses of Maryland's Department of Transportation don't run trains on Sundays -- go figure.

Your best bet would be to take Amtrak to Penn Station and transfer to Light Rail - it's a 10 minute ride to the Hamburg Street Station, adjacent to the Stadium entrance.

so you pay a PSL??? how does that work out for you? where your seats located inside M&T stadium?

Yeah, three of us bought 13 PSLs for $1,000 each in 1998. Wish we had bought more -- very high demand for Ravens games among our collective kids & friends. Current market value is $3,000 - $4,000 each - but that's a matter for the executor of my estate when I'm gone, because I don't ever intend to stop going to Ravens games. Seats are on the 1st row upper deck, strung along the 30-40, directly above the owner's suite.

btw: I saw above someone looking for reasonably priced tickets to Sunday's game. I was astonished to read this morning that the Jets has turned some tickets back to the Ravens from their visiting team allotment and they were offered at face value on Ticketmaster. (They may still be available on Ticketmaster, but not likely because they get scoffed up quickly here when that happens).

wow i just checked out ticketmaster face value upper level i paid 200 a piece for my ticks in section 111. i feel jerked! and to think i called 2 months ago the ravens ticket office on the day they went on sale trying to buy tickets and they told me they only had single tickets. fucking jerk offs

That was true at the time -- the Ravens sold out the 5,000/game or so non-PSL seats per game in 10 minutes except scattered singles. What happened today was different: selling of the tickets not claimed by Jets players for friends and family, and also not claimed by Jets season ticket holders. It never dawned on me that there would be any turnback tickets from Jets fans because of the size of your fan base and the ease of the road trip to Baltimore -- or I would have posted something when I signed on here a few nights ago.

For your future reference, for road trips, check out with the Jets ticket office about road trip tickets. If you're not a season ticket holder, have a friend who is one do this for you. As far as I know, this is a practice for all teams. I attend 4-5 Ravens road trips annually. I use this approach for most games and never pay more than face value. (At Tampa, I paid 1/2 price). I have never been skunked outside of Super Bowl XXXV. I have a friend who is a Cards season ticket holder who is buying a dozen extra tickets for me for the Ravens home game next week against the Cards, so you can use this approach for extra tickets to Jets home games as well.

The way it should work: submit a written request to Jets ticket office for the player turnback tickets. By the Wednesday preceding each away game, those tickets not claimed by players are offered to the season ticket holders, supposedly in the order of their written requests. Then you have a day to buy them. Those unsold are returned to the home team on Friday (as what happened this morning with the Jets unused allotment). This is the identical process followed by the Ravens and Cardinals, and likely league-wide.

wait i am a jets season ticket holder and according to their web site they dont sell road games. Now ive never called them and asked. But there is a company out there JETGETAWAYS or something like that, that offer a travel packages but i didnt need it. I went to buffalo last yr bought ticks off stubhub like i did this yr. Of course i paid more then face like i did this yr but i didnt know there was another approach. As far as buying extra ticks to home games from the team i doubt it works for the jets. According to them all seats are sold out. I waited 11 years to get ticks.
